The Good
My research led me to choose Cinnamon Energy as my solar system provider. Their quote was competitive and when I looked up successful local permits, they had over 600 approved permits listed over the last 7 years in my city alone.
The system I chose consists of 25 460w solar panels, 25 Enphase micro inverters, 2 Franklin AH2 batteries along with an Enphase combiner/switch. The installation took about 5 days, and the crews doing the work were professional and they consulted me and even took the time to clean 3 existing solar panels I use to vent my attic, which was not contracted work.
I mainly dealt with Marc Shapiro, who negotiated the contract and guided the process and helped us deal the issues as they came up. He was fair minded and attentive and helped keep our project on track.
The result was a CLEAN and PROFESSIONAL installation, and I am very happy with the final result.
The Bad
I had to consult a solar system expert, who was a friend of mine, to suggest how the system should be better laid out. They ended up going with the solution that he proposed, but it was a struggle. In the end, we all agreed that this design was superior to the one they had proposed, and even their electrical engineer told me that they should do all similar systems in this way as it saved time and money and resulted in a better installation. You can ask them about the "Mitchell" solution if interested.
The permit process was one of the worst issues, but due to an oversight in the design process, it took over a month longer than it should have, as Cinnamon submitted a permit application that placed the solar batteries 3" apart rather than 3 feet apart, as we clearly discussed and agreed to before the permit was filed.
I was led to believe that PTO (permission to operate) would take around 5-10 business days to get PG&E approval. It ended up taking over 6 weeks, due to PG&E's understaffing a service that ends up with customers paying them less for power. And I had to enter a complaint with the CPUC to get them to approve my system. This issue is on PG&E, but it will be an ongoing issue for all new solar installations until they find a way to make it more attractive for PG&E to get it done faster.
Overall
I am happy with the overall result. The system is performing as expected, and currently producing about 95% of our electricity. My first PG&E energy bill (gas and electric combined) went from over $600 down to $40, so the promised results are real.
In spite of the issues mentioned, I would strongly recommend Cinnamon Energy to others. Their knowledge, professionalism, and fair dealing were outstanding. Just be aware that the permit process and getting PTO can cause significant scheduling delays.
Now that my system is up and running, I wish I had done this 10 years ago. It feels good being protected from energy price increases, getting much lower energy bills and getting most all my energy from clean solar power.

Cinnamon did a great job with my solar, batteries, and heat pump HVAC home upgrades! From the thorough and realistic scoping of the solar and battery specifications to the great teams who did the installations, the results exceeded my expectations. My house + 2 EV cars are now totally energy self-sufficient and resilient to brownout/blackout episodes. When issues arose, we worked through them to achieve a great outcome. Thank you, Brian, Hector, Emmet, Paula, and the entire team for doing such a great job!

I recently installed solar and battery backup through Cinnamon Energy . The whole process from bid to installation was very smooth. The lead electrician, James and his assistant Newman did an excellent job with the electrical installation - found ways to lay it out cleanly. The field tech , Lucas is really knowledgeable and tweaked the system to optimize it to meet the field requirements. The customer service is excellent - my concerns during startup were handled promptly. So far the system has been running well.
One month into operation , I found that the battery back up was not working to expectations. I informed Cinnamon and the service dept responded instantly. They sent Lucas , who is a brilliant field tech and within an hour he had everything working to my satisfaction. He really understands every aspect of the system and explained how to troubleshoot in the future, using a step by step process based on common sense logic ( which by the way is not so common).

We recently had our solar system installed with Cinnamon Energy Systems and couldn't be happier with the experience! From start to finish, the team was professional, knowledgeable, and super responsive. They walked us through every step of the process — from site evaluation and system design to permits and final inspection — making it easy and stress-free.
A special thanks to Marcus Shapiro and his team, also
Paula Hernandez, Marc Chandeck
who were exceptional throughout. Marcus was always available to answer our questions, kept us informed at every stage, and made the entire journey smooth and reassuring.
Installation was completed on schedule, and the crew was courteous, clean, and efficient. We especially appreciated the transparent communication throughout the project and the post-installation follow-up to ensure everything was running smoothly.
The system is already performing well, and we're excited to see the future savings on our energy bills. Highly recommend them to anyone considering solar — a trustworthy and reliable company that truly delivers on its promises!
Thank you so much !! :)

I had a Cinnamon Solar and Battery System installed on my home and turned on last October, and I am very happy with the system... Everyone was very nice to work with, especially Paula, my project manager... I had tree issues with Redwood trees behind my backyard, but they were able to design a system that works for me. In the Winter months, I get about 70% of my daily power requirements because of trees blocking the sun and short days... but this gets really much better after Valentine's day, and now in the summer I produce double my power requirements using AC all day, and running a pool pump 6 hours per day... And by purchasing instead of leasing, I received a 30% Federal Credit off my tax returns! I'll be chewing off of that for a few years! Thanks Cinnamon Energy!

Cinnamon Energy Systems
Part 1
After looking at various options over the course of an 8 week journey, a total of 9 proposals, several local vendors several large "solar chains" and several web based AI driven options I went with Cinnamon for my added solar PV and batteries with whole house backup. This was an exhaustive search for the best.
I am adding a non revenue system to augment my current NEM 2 array and ideally eliminate my true up from PGE as well as provide backup during power outages.
I am not unfamiliar with electrons or having projects done as this is the 3rd home I have had built for me over the last 35 years within a 1 mile radius of where I am. I wanted a company with a strong reputation and local teams. I did not want random crews or poorly managed cobbled together systems for such a major interface with my home. I went for a deep dive into the technology and picked Cinnamon because they never ignored a question or concern. They took the time to FULLY inform me as to options pros and cons, state of the art systems, and respected my concerns over quality as job1. I never felt rushed by them or like I was wasting their time. They also never tried to "close me" as basically every other "sales team" did. I had 2 separate site visits and was able to get assurances that the system will be installed in a professional manner and function as designed and specified.
Today was Day 1 of install. So far so good. I came home from work to find this done ( see photos) today Super clean install. exactly what was designed and promised. Will post as process continues. There were cheaper alternatives but each had deficits and concerns regarding aspects of project. These guys went into the deal with full transparency.
DAY 2
Came home to find at least 8 members of the team working on my house. Almost all the solar racking and wiring done. Again a professional polite uniformed crew working hard in the heat. Still very happy with my choice. Looking forward to seeing it up and running will report more and share more photos tomorrow.
Final Post
Project is completed and working perfectly. We ran into one snag related to electrical line noise injected into the system likely by the batteries which interfered with UPB switches in my house. These systems like x10 and others utilize signals on the line wires in your home. Cinnamon understood my issue and after a conference call with enphase Franklin and input from the UPB engineer put forth a solution and installed enphase line filters that solved the problem. This is a perfect example of why I went with them and how they partner with you for best results. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Honest, clean, professional and highly knowledgeable about their craft.
