My furnace was on the blink again. Same problem as last year. A+ worked me in Fri 12/23 so I could enjoy the comfort of my home. Next year I'll schedule a preseason checkup for $89 vs a $200 service call or fix it myself now that I know where the flame sensor is!
They are a good AC/heating company.

I explored two projects with A-Plus, in the end a losing experience unless you want to be sold to continually.
First project: Re-venting house. Paid owner $100 to come over and offer assessment as well as quote the project (other companies did this for free). Liked the way he thought, quote was 20% over other quotes, and the thoughts weren't that much different though I liked the way he explained things. Thought it was money well spent. Did the project with competing bidder because, that was a chunk of money, eh?
AND. Hired A-Plus for annual maintenance.
First annual check-up arrived, tech came over, after less than 10 minutes, came and sat me down at the table. Started to tell me how poorly the system was doing, three different ages of components, and that needed to replace all of the components. Sending someone out to give a quote for what that would look like.
Enter owner's son. How lucky! He was available and could pop over within the hour. Super Super Super! He Spent less than 5 minutes looking at the system and then over 60 minutes explaining the differences in the new systems they wanted to sell me. Cost: $6000-$20,000 and up. Wassup A-Plus? That's a chunk of money there too?!
I got a second opinion and a third, none of them wanted to replace the whole system or any component. They didn't mention any of the selling points that A-Plus was pushing. Nada. Not one. Did I say, none of them?!
I called A-Plus, cancelled my annual check-up, and since I had paid in full for a full year ($180 - the only way they do it!), asked for a refund on the portion I wouldn't be using. Was informed they would consider it and call me back. NEVER DID.
I called them back 2 months later, spoke to the same rep, was told she would call me back. DIDN'T. Nada. Nothing. No rings.
I called back two weeks later, finally within 48 hours we had a solution - they would refund $60. Took it and ran just to end the relationship.
And, the son keeps calling me to sell me a unit whenever they have sales. Seems like there is more amiss than one could hope for. I get some of the positive reviews, but I'd look elsewhere if your system isn't brand new or you're not looking to replace it. And if you are - get a second opinion!
BTW, my system still running sweet, perfectly, and no components replaced. Haven't done a thing A-Plus was insisting needed to be done. Yahoo!
UPDATE
You'll see below a message from Greg Y, the owner of A-Plus Air Conditioning. It's a nice message, very explanatory, and walks through the process of how a business could respond to issues. It was written 9 days after I posted my initial review above, during holiday time, and includes all sorts of details that one would believe to helpful - and they are!
The rub for me here is it doesn't truly represent the experience and is part of the marketing that I've felt throughout the experience - what I speak to above. It's written as though the experience unfolded this way, that of course one would want this to unfold this way, etc...and while it has truth to it - it's wrapped and prettied up so that you, the yelp reader, get a clear sense of how they run things from their point of view. Great, that's what the platform is about. So, a few responses from me the reviewer:
Arturo was at my home, and yes those facts are true. The conversation was not one that was gearing me towards letting it sit - it was geared towards me purchasing and installing new units for all three parts of the system (you'll notice, one of the was 1 year old). Josh was not wanting to 'make sure,' he was targeting and pushing me to get a new system. And Josh was not following up, he was clueless in his message AND it was after 4 months of no communication at all. Wouldn't that message be more like "Hey, checking in as I see we haven't heard from you...'
So, while I appreciate the message, IMO, it's attempting to put you the reader back on their side - which, of course I understand, though I'm not here to support. Your call, dear reader!

Came same-day to evaluate potential mold issue. Whereas other HVAC companies recommended very expensive fixes, A-Plus didn't try to sell me anything unncessary. The guy cleaned what needed to be cleaned and recommened we change our filters more frequently.

I would avoid these guys. Red flags include demanding payment upfront, and getting rude / aggressive about money very quickly.
Folks, never pay contractors upfront. Huge red flag. It either means they know their work is terrible and they're afraid you won't pay once you see it, or that they are failing and need your money just to afford to do the job. Neither is something you want any part of.
Secondly, if a business gets aggressive with you about anything, but especially money, drop them immediately. No one that is trustworthy or good at their profession acts like that, period.
These guys refused to even send me an invoice. They probably can't be bothered to create a template in MS Office. This is a common curtesy practiced by just about everyone, because we need them for tax purposes.
Avoid!
UPDATE: After paying these guys the trip fee they cared so desperately about and politely telling them I didn't want their services, I contacted another company. Not only did that company not want the money for the repair upfront, but their quote was $700 less, which is almost 50% less. Wow, these guys are really something else.

A+ came to my home and diagnosed the problem as one needing plumbers. They went out of their way to get them out the next day to fix the issue. Everyone, from Stacy who initially spoke with me to the three other employees who came to my home,, were all knowledgeable and professional. And the charges were reasonable. I will definitely use A+ for HVAC needs in the future.

I tried changing out and electrical switch myself, but it went terribly wrong and the whole breaker went out (which included the hot water heater). Stacy at A-Plus was incredibly helpful and we had an electrician out within a few hours. The repair was done within an hour and it's been working great since. Great customer service and I was shocked to get someone out so quickly.
