This summer my air conditioner went out. It was blowing nothing but hot air and that is a serious emergency here in TX. So I go to look at my AC unit and see that it has a sticker on it from A-plus saying to give them "a call because your unit may be under warranty". I just bought my home about a year ago so I don't know what the previous owners had going and I figured it was worth giving them a call. I called they told me it was not covered but they could come by and find the problem. I called around to a few other AC companies in the area and these guys were available the earliest and since time was a factor i went with them.
I was told it was likely a leak and there was a hourly cost to check. The rate was calculated by the half hour. I was wary of this, so I started a timer on my phone. I started when he started and ended it after i knew he had clearly stopped and gave him about an extra 10 minutes of grace. To make a long story short he did the search for 30 minutes, he charged me for almost double. I tried to air on the side of human error and let this issue slide.
The main Issue was I needed to replace my air conditioner's coil. I talked to one of the managers and the job he quoted was expensive. I asked if they could do better on the price. He reluctantly moved the price an inch. I agreed on the job. He said he would get back to me. I took several days to hear back from him. In the meantime the upstairs in my house is reaching 95 degrees! Needless to say I didn't wait any longer and got another company on it. I told A-plus to forget it.
The other AC co was responsive, came out quicker and were much less expensive. I seldom complain but A-plus in my book was a disappointment. I understand this is the busy season for them but their lack of communication was uncalled for. They gave me the impression that because I called them from the sticker and had agreed to have them come out once that they had me in the bag.
Then after this was all said and done the manager emails me. He said sorry that I thought they too long and claimed that they had in fact gotten back to me days earlier..........Not true! He said they left messages on my phone and his worker spoke to me when I cancelled and claimed that I told her "I didn't check my messages, yet". Believe me when I say that if I'm going to sit here and write this detailed reviewed on this, then you know good and well that I was diligently waiting on any contact from them. I received none!! I don't know if he is being misinformed by his staff or it is him that is creating this fabrication, but I won't count on them again. Good luck to you if you do..

This is the second time we have used them and we couldn't be happier.
Our sink and shower drains were clogged and Ben did a fantastic job making sure everything was is working order. He was flexible with his schedule, came for an estimate, and we were able to get everything done the next day. The prices are fair and with something as important as my house, I am lucky to have found A plus to handle all the work I can't!

AC went out Tuesday night. Rodrigo came Wednesday and repaired unit. He had to find a work around since a replacement part from manufacturer was not immediately available in Austin area. He was professional, resourceful, kind and hard-working. The unit is cooling and I am very satisfied with the effort put into resolving our AC problem. Thank you Rodrigo!

Wow...they even do handyman work! We've used A-Plus Energy for several years and they have been great. When I found they also do handyman work now ....I emailed and told them what we needed done in the office. Chris came out a few days later when we scheduled him and he was so good, positive and easy to work with. It was great and the cost was really reasonable. We were very pleasantly surprised in the job that Kevin did today. We thought we had enough work to do for the time allotted but we soon found that the work was being done faster than planned. The quality was first rate. We will use this company again and hopefully Kevin will be available.

Being loyal customers of this local HVAC company for around 15 years we seldom had any reason to complain until recently. After two service calls and several hundred dollars of wasted money on back-to-back AC unit calls, followed by a dismissive response to our complaint over the total ineffectiveness of the 'repairs', we are sadly forced to cease our business with this company.
One of our home AC units is currently on the fritz, not cooling its designated area below about 75-degrees on average (hotter in the afternoon). Our units are typically capable of cooling any designated area to under 65-degrees, if one wishes, and therefore this reduction in performance was both notable and unacceptable.
Upon calling for service we promptly received one of their employees within a few hours, despite it being a Friday evening; prompt service response has always been one of A-plus' great strengths. The technician proceeded to repair the unit, which according to him required hosing down an offending piece of the AC unit with water. For both the response and 'maintenance' cost we paid a little under $200; despite the fact that there seemed to be little change in the AC performance we were told that the problem was fixed and the unit would be responsive shortly.
By the next day there was no discernible change, and we had to again call for the same employee, who performed additional 'observations' on the unit and who told us the lack of cooling was due to a dirtied filter (this despite the fact that I could observe air freely moving through the filter's grate, dirty or not). While he was there we replaced the filter, paying additional service costs to him, and he told us the unit should be responsive and cooling, now.
Hours later, with no change in performance in sight, we called the A-plus offices and spoke to Greg, who informed us that "AC units typically do not cool an area below 75 to 74 degrees" (this despite the fact that our other units, as of writing this post, are cooling the house into the mid-60s, for testing purposes). Greg dismissed our complaints and insisted that the only available fix for us now was to purchase a new unit (and even then: AC units "typically do not cool an area below 75 to 74 degrees"). No discounting or refunding of the several hundreds of dollars we'd already spent for our 'fixes' were forthcoming.
Having now spent hundreds of dollars on two service calls to fix our AC, and with no discernible results evident, and having called their offices, only to be nonsensically told that our AC unit was effectively "always" in such a state to begin with, we are left in a saddened state of shock, and with little recourse other than to find another HVAC company with which to do business.
There was a time not too long ago I would heartily recommend A-plus for any residential HVAC job, but after this expensive, fruitless and nonsensical endeavor with their offices I must sadly recommend strongly against using their business.
