I couldn't be happier with the level of professionalism, attention to detail in every aspect of diagnosing my 2 heaters(wall heater & central heater) It started out with my original phone call and talking to the owner Jason about fixing my wall heater only after SDG&E left me minutes prior to this phone call with a laundry list of what needed to be fixed on this old unit on the wall. Jason said no problem, we'll be out tomorrow to fix those needs. Rafael J. was sent, and what a blessing he was. So, as it goes he brought his A+ game to service the wall heater and that alone I was impressed with. He took pictures of the internal unit, pictures of the vent on top of the house proved to me it was irreparable. I needed a new one. The vent in the wall was collapsed to vent the carbon monoxide, but even if we fix the vent the rust in the heating exchanger had pin holes. Case closed it needed to be replaced.
Moving to the central heating system and while he was here I said," do you want to look at the 40 year old Central heater too? Without hesitation he said yes. I also needed a new central heating system due to the gas leaking internally that I was unaware of. If I didn't ask him while he was walking out the front door to take a peek at this, I could have lost my life, the house the animals. I didn't call for this one to be serviced but by the grace of God I asked him to look at my antique heater. I tell you. I couldn't be happier, and I'm having them come back tomorrow and replace both. Thank you, Jason, Amanda & Rafael for coming to my rescue and perhaps preventing a disastrous situation.

American Comfort Services provided swift and efficient heating repair when my gas furnace malfunctioned. The technician was prompt, transparent about the issue, and the repairs were done at a fair price. I highly recommend ACS for their professionalism and commitment to customer satisfaction. Five stars!

Great to have our A/C working more efficiently and having the line set moved to be out of sight. I always appreciate working with people who do what they say they are going to do, when they say they will do it, and having it look good when it's done. I highly recommend ACS.

Original Review:
Background: I had a small brand new room-AC system installed. The total for the AC unit was around $5000. But it never quite worked right. I had ACS / American Comfort Services (from El Cajon) out to fix it.
ACS came out, gave the right reassurances that it was an easy enough problem to fix, etc. I set an appointment. So far so good. When the tech arrived for the appointment, he opened up the system and apparently was unsure of what to do. So he said he would call the tech support for the AC manufacturer to get advice on how to fix the problem, but it was nothing to be worried about.
He sat in his truck, doing absolutely nothing I could see for 1 hour. I watched him. Another hour went by. Nothing. He was fiddling on his phone, eating a snack, etc.
At the 4 hour mark, I went out to see what the problem was. He said he was still on the phone / on hold with the manufacturer. He then left for the day. Nothing solved.
He came back the next day. Sat in our driveway in his truck, doing zilch - nothing at all. Didn't even go to the AC unit. Another 4 hours passed!! I was beyond frustrated as at this point, i've taken a day and half off of work already.
At 3:00 pm, he came to the door with a $1500+ bill, told me which part to order, told me to look around for where it was in stock myself, and said that after I ordered the part for him he would try to get me a discount on his time to come back and install it.
To summarize: I just paid $1500+ for him to sit in his truck for 2 days, fix nothing, watch him play video games, eat some food. Then, I have to order the part (i don't know anything about AC systems -- which is why i called him), and then pay him even more to put it in (or is it for him to sit in his truck again? Not sure.) Needless to say, I didn't call them back. I don't have another $1500 to waste.
This is the biggest scam, waste of money, dishonest behavior I've ever encountered. I don't know if they took advantage of me because I was home alone with nobody else to back me up, or whether they do this to everyone. After he left, I called the company's mainline, they "promised" to make things right. How, I asked - maybe actually fix the problem? Maybe not charge me $1500 so the tech can get a high score on his video game???? They didn't know. They apparently had to talk to their upper manager and they would get back to me. Uh-huh. As expected, they did nothing. Nothing. No money back. NO working AC. Maybe they're all sitting in their trucks playing video games, too. I don't know. On the plus side, it's not scorching hot anymore, so i can just open windows now.
Stay away, especially if you're uncomfortable with confronting people. I'm not going to name the technician by name... but personally, I'd stay away from any company that allows this kind of practice. Next time, I'll go to a company which is more reputable than these awful people.
Updated review: in response to company's reply.
Although i appreciate the effort in responding to this, i cannot help but remind you that
1. Nothing was accomplished. The AC still does not work.
2. If your technician did not have the technical capability to handle the issue in a reasonable time, perhaps not accepting the job would have been a more honest approach? Or, maybe letting me know - maybe an hour into the process, maybe 2, maybe 4?
3. Charging $100-$200/ hour for 10 hours to sit on hold to seek help is not an acceptable solution no matter what the circumstance. Especially without warning.
4. After I complained, your secretary/receptionist repeatedly assured us you would "make things right" as soon as she talked to you. Other than this solitary response on a public forum, I have heard nothing. Neither to address the problem nor to help in any other way. This is after 1.5 MONTHS waiting for a response.
In the end, I evaluate interactions simply. I paid $1500. I got nothing. Seems like you got the better end of that deal. Congrats.
