Transforming a 1913 Home's Sewer

Transforming a 1913 Home's Sewer At Axiom Plumbing + Sewers, we pride ourselves on our ability to tackle complex plumbing projects with efficiency and expertise. Recently, our team was contacted by a homeowner in Troutdale who faced extensive sewer issues in their charming 1913 house. The homeowner, Jen Jane, reached out to us due to signs that their sewer system was breaking down. After years of service, the aging iron and terracotta pipes had begun to fail, creating a situation that required immediate attention. The Challenge: A Complicated Sewer Replacement Before we stepped in, Jen was understandably concerned about the deteriorating condition of her sewer system. The original sewer line ran under the entire basement and even extended beneath the driveway, leading to significant complications. Two bellies in the line, along with the materials used, meant we had to devise a clever solution to avert further damage. Our initial assessment revealed the extent of the work required—jackhammering the floor and driveway, rerouting the pipe entirely, and pouring new concrete. It was a major undertaking, but our team knew they could handle the challenge. Our Approach From the very first phone call, we emphasized clear communication and customer care, values that drive our operations. Scheduling the project was a breeze—our knowledgeable staff ensured Jen was always in the loop, answering every question along the way. When Ian visited for the initial bid, he took the time to thoroughly examine the situation and answer all of Jen’s questions, no matter how numerous. This hands-on and approachable style is something we promote throughout our team. Once we began the work, Alex, our project supervisor, led an experienced crew dedicated to quality. Their hard work and camaraderie stood out; it was clear they took great pride in their craft. Throughout the project, our owner Bruce made multiple visits to check in on the team, exemplifying our commitment not only to our clients but also to our employees. > “Axiom was prompt and communicative from start to finish for a major complicated sewer replacement on my 1913 house. I would highly recommend this company for their knowledge, professionalism, and care for each other.” – Jen Jane The Remarkable Transformation After a few intense days of hard work, we successfully replaced the entire sewer line with a new system designed to withstand the test of time. The outcome was transformative, not just for the plumbing but for Jen’s peace of mind. We rerouted the pipe effectively, ensuring it was positioned correctly without compromising the integrity of the surrounding structures. Once our work was complete, we poured new concrete, restoring the areas affected by our digging. The house now not only has a reliable plumbing system but is also more structurally sound. Our commitment to providing high-quality service was fully realized, and it was rewarding to witness the satisfaction on Jen's face when she could finally put these concerns behind her.
