Update:
I am updating this review because I finally got Bay Area Turf to come out and do an estimate for our project last fall. The estimate was a little higher than the others that I received, but after discussing our concerns with the professionalism with Matt, we felt comfortable giving him our business. I like to give my money to young business owners when possible. That turned out to be a good decision.

Once the project finally got going, Matt's crew did a terrific job. They showed up as scheduled and actually finished the installation earlier that expected. The grandkids and dog love it! They used to hate going out there because of all the weeds and dirt. Now they go out to play by themselves without any prodding.

My neighbors came by to ask if we had just had turf put in because they wanted to take a look. They were very impressed by how real it looks and hoe great a job that Bay Area Turf did.

So why only 4 stars? I feel that there is still an issue with the communication with regards to scheduling and keeping appointments. Matt indicated to me that he is aware that this has been a problem that has lead to negative reviews on Yelp. If we hadn't run into these problems, I would have definitely given 5 stars. We are now considering having the front yard done and will definitely give Bay Area Turf a call.

Don't even waste your time

Is this company paying people to write 5 star reviews? I would really love to know who is actually getting their turf done by them because we sure aren't. It isn't because we haven't tried to give them our business. We have had 2 appointments scheduled for them to come out and give us an estimate. Both times those appointments were cancelled at the last minute. This is extremely unprofessional. If this were my business and had to cancel a first appointment at the last minute, I would make damn sure that the 2nd appointment was kept even if I had to do it myself. Our schedule is very busy and we really don't appreciate having to take time off of work for this nonsense.

Actually, this might be a good thing. If they run their business like this, who knows what the finished product would have looked like. We will be looking for a company with some professionalism and integrity.

Matt's team did an excellent job for our front yard and back yard. We had crazy weeds and dead turf on our yards, dried out through the entire summer. Matt's team cleaned out the entire site and re-do the base for artificial turf. They added several layers of different rocks/sands to achieve an even layout and enhances water penetration. We also had a choice with the turf color/texture. They completed the job within two days with beautiful lawn shining in front of our house. We are very pleased with their work.

Also, Bay Area turf has very competitive price range comparing with other companies around the bay area. I'm very glad with our final budget. BTW, be sure to talk with them about your existing irrigation system so that the workers can prepare for proper arrangements.

I am very disappointed with your company. You have displayed very bad business practices. You were one of my top choices because a friend of mine highly recommended you and is very pleased with your work. I had pretty much made up my mind to go with your company because I went out to my friend's house and saw the job your company did and was amazed., However I have called for over two weeks trying to have a call back is like impossible.

I have called three times with each time the operator said someone would call me back soon. No call... I called again.... same thing! They even had my name and phone number listed and the date on which I first called. They did apologized and assured me someone would call me.

Fat Chance that ever happened. A few days later I received this email.

First of all No one EVER CALLED ME BACK and thought this email would be sufficient! WRONG!!!!

I wanted to speak to a live person and the measurements I gave was only an estimate I wanted to have someone come out to my home and show me different types of Artificial turf.

And what I get after two weeks is an email stating to CLICK HERE TO SCHEDULE AN IN HOME CONSULTATION. REALLY!!!!

UNBELIEVABLE! THANKS TO YOUR SALES DEPARTMENT OR WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT I WILL TAKE MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!!!!

SUCH A SHAME!! I OF COURSE WILL NOT RECOMMEND YOUR COMPANY ANY TIME SOON.

I would highly recommend Bay Area Turf. I contacted the company for an estimate with my measurements, and Matt got back to me and we set up an appointment. Matt was very polite and answered all of my questions, and left me some samples. Bay Area Turf is very reasonable compared to some other companies out there. After working out the details and time for installing turf in both my front and back yards, we set up an installation date. Matt, James and their crew arrived right on time, and they were all very fast and professional. My wife and I were very pleased with their installation, which only took about a day and a half to complete. The whole crew was very pleasant to work with, and courteous. Our 10 year old grandson asked them alot of questions during the installation, and he gave them two thumbs up! Alot of our neighbors and people stopped by and were very pleased with the new turf, and were very interested in knowing more. It's amazing how realistic their turf looks. After the job they cleaned up thoroughly. We highly recommend Bay Area Turf to anyone looking for artificial turf. We had ours installed around the middle of May, and we are glad we did, especially with this current drought where we wanted to do our part. Steve E.....Union City

Bay Area Turf earns a well deserved 5 Star rating from me. I received a next day phone response from them and set up an appt. for the following day. Matt arrived on time, answered all of my many questions, and showed me some turf samples. As promised, he emailed a bid to me that evening. His was the third bid I had obtained, and the lowest of all three (more than 50% less than the one from a well advertised vendor).

Matt and his crew arrived last week to replace my front lawn. By early afternoon, I had a beautiful new lawn. The workers were very professional and hard working and left everything spotless when they finished. The whole process from initial contact to installation was 3 weeks. I couldn't be more pleased with the result! Thanks again, Matt!

Matt's crew just finished 2nd install on our property (1st was in 2013). They showed up at 7:30 am - prepared 900 sq ft area - finished installing turf and cleaned up by 5 pm. They worked quickly with each phase of the install. Matt even accommodated a late request that a weed barrier be put down as part of the install. Overall, very professional and excellent job! I highly recommend Bay Area Turf!
