If I could give Bay Area turf a zero, I definitely would!
First of, they were very persistent with me when they were trying to win my business, the project manager, even the owner was reaching out to me via email really asking for my business. I thought that was admirable for a business to do that so I decided to give them a chance.
I had two people come to give me a quote because something happened with their initial quote - no problem. The day of the scheduled installation, I got an email from their project manager that the turf I chose was no longer in stock so I had to choose another turf. That sucked because I didn't wanna have to choose another turf because my wife and I were pretty set on what we chose but we found another one that was close enough to what we chose - so no problem.
The turf was installed successfully but before the installers left, I asked them about how to care for the turf and if I needed to know anything about the turf. Thats when they told me "oh you need to tint your windows before Summer". When I asked why they said, the area that the turf was installed will likely get a lot of sun which will burn/melt the turf. Well, that was important information that was not relayed to me when Bay Area Turf folks came out not once but twice to give me a quote. We had a whole shaded side yard that we could have installed our turf if we knew about the sun burning though the turf. I think this is VERY IMPORTANT information that should have been relayed to us!
Interestingly, we noticed lines in the turf in like february (turf was installed in October) - it wasnt even summer yet. So I thought maybe the turf was faulty and was falling apart. I reached out to Bay Area turf MULTIPLE TIMES, with no response even after escalating to the owner. Eventually (probably , I got a response and they said the would send someone out to take a look. That also took almost 2-3 months of constant emails and then when the guy came out, he said that it was the sun burning through the turf.
So I asked what was next, and he said he would like the company know and that they would follow up. That was in May of 2024. I'm still yet to hear from them...
Terrible service. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS! They will ghost you and not reply to texts or emails. They replaced our front yard turf due to a manufacturing issue. Now the replacement turf is 2 different colors. Someone came out on 1/6/25 to look at it, and after that I got one email stating they were submitting a warranty claim. Never heard back from them. Matt Watkins, who owns Bay Area Turf, doesn't live in California anymore. He lives in Texas now. You never hear from him. Check out BBB's website; all the complaints are the same. And if you look them up on the CSLB website, you'll see that their license has been suspended until they comply with workers comp.

Called to see if they would come out and fix an existing turf we personally put in over 10 years ago. They came same day to take and look and said they could fix it for a very reasonable price. I mentioned we had a big family party coming up in less than two weeks. Austin had a crew here very next day. Looks brand new again! Then I asked for a quote to get backyard done thinking we could do it sometime this summer. Quote was again a great price so we signed contact that day. To my surprise Austin said he wanted to make sure it was done before our party! 3 days later we have a gorgeous turf in our backyard as well now!! It was such a pleasure to do business with a local company that was so personable, professional and efficient!
Austin and crew are the best!!

My project was completed by Matt and his crew in 2022. Since then I have had a seam open up after heavy rains and for over a year I have tried to get Matt to come out and repair the seam to no avail.
