Installation and first furnace check were great. Everyone I've worked with is very nice and helpful and give you options on different upgrades but never feel pushy. I appreciate a local business that actually cares about their customers and aren't just pushing for extra money. Thank you!!

ONE YEAR REVIEW -- FIVE STARS - CHICAGO TOWN-HOUSE
Iām delighted to review Compass Heating. Iāve had my all-electric system for almost a year (Daiken SkyAire heat pump and back up Daiken heat resistance ) and I am 100% satisfiedāand Iām saving money. I also purchased the thermostat that allows Compass Heating to diagnose any issues from afar, which is a great option since I live in Chicago in a townhouse.

SELECTION PROCESS: Mike Gunderson, Compassā co-owner, was able to patiently guide me through the twists and turns of the selection process. He clearly is very knowledgeable and is committed to providing top-notch information and service.

At first, I was looking at a combination Daiken heat pump/back-up furnace because I couldnāt afford going fully electric. Then, as part of an demonstration project with Elevate, I did go fully electric and that included an electric stove, heat pump water heater, and heat pump dryer.

Even with the addition of all these electric appliances on my ComEd bill, Iām still saving significant money (in part because I have no gas carrying fees.) As Illinois moves to implement its clean energy policy, itās great to go electric to do my part on climate change.

Re: Daiken, this is a widely used brand in Europe, but is not as known in the US. It has a great warranty. I did get quotes and installation information from other companies, but they were not much chearper and and, at least once, I was given misleading information about installation.

INSTALLATION: Mike came several times to help me with my selection and also determine the best spot for installing the SkyAire heat pump. The actual installation was done by Mike and Scott over a two-day period and it was great.

PERFORMANCE: I had heard that heat pumps take a while to heat up the house or cool it down, but I found that I was even more comfortable that I was with my old system. When it dropped down to below freezing temperatures this year, there were no problems! My heat pumps could handle it. BONUS: When air quality is bad due to forest fires, etc. , the air filter cleaned my indoor air. I have an indoor air quality monitor. This year I'm going to upgrade to best 16 MERV.

Again, even with adding 3 new electric appliances plus the new SkyeAire and back-up electric heat, I am saving money and Iām more comfortable. (Iām on the ComEdās hourly pricing system.)

Free advice ā upgrading your electrical system for that it can accommodate the new Heat pump is something that you might need to do first, but itās helpful to do with advice from Mike ahead of time.
