Transforming a Roof: From Hail Damage to Stunning New Look
Transforming a Roof: From Hail Damage to Stunning New Look
At Driftwood Builders Roofing, we pride ourselves on the quality craftsmanship we deliver to the homeowners of Manchaca, TX. Recently, we had the pleasure of transforming a roof for a valued customer, Rich Peters. Rich contacted us after noticing significant hail damage to his 16-year-old roof, prompting a much-needed inspection and subsequent repair.
Before: The Challenge
Rich’s roof sustained considerable damage from a recent hailstorm that left a lot of stone in the gutters. After observing us conducting an inspection at a neighbor's house, he decided to reach out. A thorough inspection revealed not only numerous dings in the shingles but also a quarter-sized hole. Additionally, Rich had ongoing issues with improperly draining gutters that required urgent attention.
With this knowledge, he felt it was important to get a professional assessment to ensure appropriate measures were taken. We understand how critical it is for roofs to protect homes from the elements, so our team sprang into action.
Our Process: From Inspection to Replacement
The first step in our process was to conduct a detailed roof inspection. Our team, led by Tom Baker, meticulously examined every part of Rich's roof and gathered the necessary information to communicate with his insurance adjuster effectively. We provided a detailed estimate that highlighted the required repairs, which included installing new rain chains rather than a complete gutter re-hang and adding a new roof hole for a water closet vent.
Rich received several quotes, but he chose us partly because of our transparent pricing and commitment to assisting with the insurance process. We set a timeline to replace the roof, which took about six weeks due to heavy rainfall and high demand. Thankfully, Rich didn’t have any active leaks during this waiting period, alleviating the urgency and stress of the situation.
The Transformation
Once the weather cleared, our skilled roofing team began the replacement process. With 56 squares of roofing to cover, the crew worked efficiently on multiple facets of the roof at once, demonstrating exceptional coordination. Tom was present every day to ensure the work met our high standards and to address any of Rich's concerns.
Upon completion, we left Rich’s property spotless—performing a thorough clean-up and metal sweep to ensure no debris was left behind.
Rich’s new roofing system features 50-year GAF Certified hickory Architectural shingles that not only enhance the curb appeal of his home but also provide long-lasting protection.

To ensure every detail was perfect, Tom returned for a final inspection. He addressed minor aesthetics, such as covering visible silicone dots with paint that matched the shingles. Moreover, he took the initiative to adjust the alignment of the new vent, demonstrating our commitment to customer satisfaction and quality finishing touches.
After: The Result
With the project completed, Rich now enjoys a beautiful new roof that not only enhances his home’s aesthetic but provides peace of mind knowing it's structurally sound against future weather challenges. This project exemplifies our dedication to going above and beyond for our customers, ensuring their homes are not just upgraded but enhanced in protection and beauty.
