Had Excel Mechanical replace a heater/AC unit today. They did a terrific job. Karen in the office was wonderfully kind!

I live at Tannery Brook Row and they are responsible for two MAJOR DISASTERS here. The first was the installation for a building wide HVAC system. It was installed backwards and instead of drawing air out of the basement, the system flooded the area with bad air, affecting the ambient air for 4 buildings. This resulted in a poor assessment by Mass EPA. The ensuing rigamarole cost our associations about $100k and two years to resolve, also creating a cloud for those obtaining mortgages and cost condo owners selling additional money. To this day, people living in Building #5 are still dealing with problems in their individual units caused by their poor shoddy workmanship ten years later.

The second disaster was a flood while they installed an HVAC unit in a condo in another building. While the fire system connection to the Somerville Fire Department was turned off, they welded a pipe near the sprinkler system going through a wall in another room to reach the HVAC.

This set off the sprinkler system with roughly $300k in damages between the two units.

Still dealing with insurance agents and repairs 5 months after the incident. what more is there to say

Their staff answers the phone saying "It's a great day at Excel, how may I help you." In my mind I always say "I know it's going to be a great day here because you guys are on the job." Moe Fencing Club opened its doors in Somerville in Jan of 2007. We lucked into Excel when we hired them to help transition our space from an office building to a training facility. Since then they have maintained our HVAC system & installed newer systems. When our decade old system failed they put in a new system with very short notice in 80 plus degree whether. Then they re-installed our system within 24 hours on the 1st hot day of this season when we found out our new compressors had gotten squashed over the winter in the unprecedented snowfall. Owning a business is stressful. There are a lot of surprises, good and bad that we can't prepare for. The people at Excel take away one major stress as we work in the knowledge that they will always be there for us when we are trying to keep our athletes comfortable against the cold and the heat. They are reliable, fair, friendly, courteous and consistent. We are very lucky to have met them early in our endeavors as a business!

These guys tore out a furnace in my Somerville condo that had just been installed by ANOTHER company, but was shut down by NSTAR for not being up to code. They took their time to do research on the weird space and installed proper ventilation for the whole HVAC system. Prices were reasonable and the maintenance plan was well worth the money. I had to have the unit checked out when I sold the place after four years of no issues and no maintenance check up (bad homeowner, bad!) and everything was great!

Everyone that I've spoken with here has been polite, professional, and friendly. Scheduling during February of 2015 was a nightmare, but they made everything work. Bonus: my cats like every tech who's come out!

Tim helped us to fix our water heater and furnace. He is so knowledgeablel, patient, and honest. We have a aged furnace(over 15 years), but he was telling us that it's repairable, and in 20 minutese, we have our hot water back! He saved us 8000 USD (Some other company quote us for 8000+ to replace furnace and water heater, we were told that it's not repairable).
