GO Masonry's work could have caused us a serious house fire. We were fortunate to have caught it and had it repaired by a trusted contractor before that point. You can see how the boards the placed behind the stone façade of our chimney obviously caught fire at some point, surrounding the electrical box by the way, and created the smoke we were seeing coming from the electrical outlets to let us know something was clearly wrong. Forget about the unprofessionalism, plethora of excuses for poor work and zero accountability. This company endangered the safety of our family - no excuse for that.

Original review:
1. Gerber said that the job would take 2-3 weeks, and that "patios are their specialty." The job took almost 3 months to complete. We also told him we had a hard deadline for completion on June. When the work began in early April, he assured us many times that this was no problem at all, however by mid June, the work was still not completed.
2. We had to remind Gerber to call the utilities before the job even started - 1st delay of many.
3. He did not pick up the correct stone that we chose for a retaining wall, stating he "liked this stone better" and tried multiple times to talk us into alternative stone choices for what he tried to play off as design reasons. not the truth, which was that he realized too late that he couldn't get the stone we originally selected.
4. Never was it communicated that any of the stones we initially chose may be hard to get until AFTER the job began, so our yard was torn up & we were scrambling (even changed vendors & stone selections multiple times mid-project to try to get something available) so ultimately we chose a different stone than we had initially selected just to avoid having it remain torn up for many months to follow. He should have waited to procure the stone before beginning to dig up our yard for the project.
5. For our retaining wall, they built the wall 11 feet too long, causing it to have a strange curve & affecting the overall look of the patio. Gerber expected us to pay for the mistake that his guys made, & when asked he said he "didn't know why they built it so much longer." Additionally, he didn't order stone to cover the back of the wall, & his solution for that was to "throw dirt up against it." The back of the wall is almost 2ft above ground (see photo), so I have no idea how throwing dirt against it wouldn't have been a solution. Ultimately, we had to pay for more stone in order to cover the backside of the retaining wall.
5. Even after repeatedly telling Gerber about our irrigation system before any digging began, his team not only broke piping & our sprinkler heads while digging - but did not compensate us for any of it. So fixing the irrigation was all out of our pocket & I don't recall even an apology from Gerber.
6. Months after it started, the job was almost completed, but the grading of the patio left an edge of 10 in. above our yard. When asked, Gerber's plan to fix this was to build the dirt from the yard up to the edge of the patio. Our yard is very flat, so this would have meant creating a hump in the yard (at the patio threshold) in order to accommodate his idea for a solution. Ultimately, since that was not an option in our minds, they had to tear up all of the pavers, and regrade the entire patio... twice. Finally, since his team still wasn't able to grade it as Gerber stated it would be, he had to install a french drain in the yard. Again, he forgot to call the utilities company so when they began to dig the french drain, they broke our Verizon Fios line. So we were then without phone, tv & internet for days until Verizon could come fix the line and bury a new one, and the cost for that was also not covered by Gerber.
Ultimately, we were made promises multiple times, by Gerber about when/how/what things would be done, and Gerber's word turned out to be no good. He failed to take accountability for the things that went wrong, had an excuse for everything, and poorly communicated throughout the entire job with both us & his crew.

Great service; great product; great company!

I found this company through the nextdoor app. Their prices were reasonable and they offered many ideas of the outlay of the patio area. After a couple of discussions and sharing their vision, I chose them create to build my patio - and I'm very happy that I did. Gerber's crew were respectful, showed up on time, and cleaned up daily after themselves. They also finished on time and my patio looks amazing! Quality, value, respectful, and consistent.
