Bathroom Gut Remodel Done Right
A Bathroom Gut Remodel Done Right — From Day One to Final Tile
When a homeowner reaches out for a full bathroom gut and a handful of additional repairs around the house, there's a lot riding on the relationship from the very first conversation. That's exactly the kind of project we love taking on here at DMV General Contracting Group — not because it's glamorous, but because it's an opportunity to show what consistent, focused craftsmanship actually looks like in practice.
This project came to us from a homeowner in the Rockville, MD area, and it's a great example of what we aim to deliver on every job, whether it's a single bathroom or a full home addition.

The Starting Point: A Bathroom That Needed a Fresh Start
The client came to us with a bathroom that had run its course. Rather than patching things up, the decision was made to do a proper gut — strip it down and rebuild it the right way. On top of that, there were a number of smaller tasks around the house that needed attention.
This kind of project requires careful coordination. A bathroom gut isn't just demolition and new tile; it involves sequencing trades, managing materials, keeping the rest of the home livable, and making sure the homeowner always knows exactly what's happening and why.

How We Approached the Work
From the start, our focus was on three things: clear communication, quality workmanship, and a clean job site.
Gustavo Placeres, who leads our team with over 35 years of hands-on construction experience, visited the job site at least twice a day throughout the project. That's not something we do for show — it's how we catch small issues before they become big ones, and it's how we make sure our crew has everything they need to keep moving.
Our crew — led on this job by Noe and Daniel — worked full days, stayed focused, and kept their phones put away. That matters more than people realize. Distractions on a job site slow things down and lead to mistakes. Our guys showed up on time, every day, and worked with the kind of energy and attention that produces results you can actually see.
Here's what the project involved:
- Full bathroom gut and rebuild — everything removed and replaced
- New tile work — laid with precision and care
- New flooring — installed to a high standard throughout the bathroom
- Multiple small repairs and improvements around the rest of the home
- Daily site cleanup — the crew put everything away at the end of each day, keeping the home as livable as possible during construction

The Results: Impeccable Tile, Clean Lines, and Zero Surprises
When the work was done, the bathroom looked exactly the way it should — clean, well-finished, and built to last. The tile work was precise, the flooring was level and tight, and every detail was handled with care.
But honestly, for this client, the quality of the finished product was only part of the story. What stood out just as much was the experience of working with us — the communication, the consistency, and the professionalism of the crew.
> "Outstanding work from DMV General Contracting. The owner, Gustavo Placeres has the best crews working for him and the communication between me, Gustavo and his crew was always consistent and concise. There were never doubts on what we were agreeing to, and Gustavo came by the job site at least twice a day. And, he is in constant phone communication which is huge for me because questions come up constantly on a remodel. His crew never had their phones out, and they stayed and worked full days, with strong focus and energy. And never late! Invoices are clear, promptly updated if changes were made and easy to pay. Workmanship was excellent, the tile work and new floor is impeccable. Cleanliness: the crew kept the work area clean, putting everything away at the end of each day. The job was a small bathroom gut and a number of small things around the house and everything is perfect. Highly recommend Gustavo to work on your next project, big or small. And a huge shout out to Noe and Daniel who did all the work!"

Why Communication Makes or Breaks a Remodel
One thing Jack mentioned that we hear often — and take seriously — is how important phone availability is during a remodel. Questions don't wait for scheduled check-ins. When a homeowner sees something and wonders about it, they need to be able to pick up the phone and get a real answer quickly.
Gustavo makes himself available throughout every project. Invoices are updated promptly when scope changes, so there are never surprises on the billing side either. That kind of transparency is something we've built into how we operate, not something we add on as an afterthought.
