This project was for Home Upgrade Specialist ("HUS") to remove an old wall heater in our home and install a new 35K BTU wall heater, on New Year's Eve.

PROS:

Price.
I'm a very skeptical person. I always check the licenses number, the insurance and the bond of any potential contractor. So when our Specialist (Mr. Leor) gave us a quote which was $474 less than the other 3 quotes we had, I was immediately suspicious that there was some hidden charge or this company would cut corners somehow. But, it didn't happen.

Timeliness.
Our Specialist arrived on time to give us the estimate. He had his laptop and once I gave him access to my WiFi he delivered the quote via e-mail before he left our house.

The crew which did the install arrived on time and completed the work in 1.5 hours. (The crew was very quiet and polite.)

The Contract.
Don't ever hand me a 2nd or 3rd carbon copy of a contract where items are written in chicken scratch (https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=chicken%20scratch). This contract was delivered via e-mail with specific boxes checked and everything we had discussed was clearly identified. In fact, the only issue I had with the contract was a slight misspelling of the street address! I have a little bit of legal experience and I ALWAYS read ALL of the contract.

"Value Added Services" Spelled Out In The Contract.
My mother really appreciated two of these value added services.
"Cover floors and furniture with drop cloths" AND
"Sweep, dust, and vacuum at the end of each work day".
They certainly did cover everything as promised. I don't know if they dusted or vacuumed, but they certainly did leave the place cleaner than they found it. Mom says "Thanks".

Cons:
I would rather have the price of the permit included in the original proposal. I understand it probably puts "HUS" at a disadvantage because almost every other company does not include the permit cost in the original proposal.

Warranty is 1 year labor and 10 years parts. I did have another estimate offering 5 years labor and 10 years parts. We had the old heater for at least 25 years, so this new unit is even half as good, we doubt we will still be in this house by the time a new one is needed.

Strange Office Hours. According to the Specialist the Yelp page the office is closed on Saturday. According to the Yelp page the office is open 8am-7pm on Sunday. I tried calling on Sunday at around 2pm and the answering machine said the office was closed. Its seems strange to me that they would be open on Sunday but not on Saturday.

My sister and niece enjoyed a toasty New Years Eve. All in all, I really have to nitpick to find any negatives about "HUS".

I would definitely recommend "HUS" for heaters.

I would definitely call them again for other things.

If we suddenly end up with more money in the budget, we would call them about the front porch awning. That's probably going to have to wait until the summer though.

Simon, Itai, Joy and Stevie were all great! They coped with us immensely and worked around our difficult schedule. They were incredibly professional and made sure everything ran smoothly for us. They were very attentive, patient, caring, respectful, organized, clean, and most importantly warm during the whole process and made us feel relieved with the issues we had because we knew they would do whatever they had to do and even go out of their way to ensure that we got everything properly fixed and taken care of at the House.

Highly recommended. It took us a while to find a Team like this, but it was worth every second of the wait! And the response when we call is immediate, which is great. Joy also does a great job at this".

Not to mention that on the second visit we had, Roland did a wonderful Job fixing our Heater. It only took him minutes to figure out what was wrong and fixed it right away

Home Upgrade previously did my AC optimization 10 month ago. I contacted Home Upgrade when my AC stopped blowing cold air this week.

There was a slight mishap in communication when I called to schedule because I reference the AC optimization report that mentioned I qualified for early replacement of my AC unit. A sales person was sent out instead of a technician. They were able to call a technician and come to my house within 15 minutes after I explained that I was looking for a technician. Sam was dispatched and he was able to identify the issue; low Freon and potential leaking.

I had the opportunity to speak to Simon, the owner, and Karen, the manager, to identify the breakdown in communication. Simon cares a lot about the way his business is run and tries his best to resolve any hiccups along the way.

Based on the strength of some YELP reviews I called them about a problem with my heat. Greg came out on a Friday, his last call of the day, and we spent a half hour walking on the roof just trying to determine which HVAC system belonged to the rental unit I was living in. The HOA president was of little help (although she tried really hard) and since its West Hollywood, California, and it ain't that cold at night to begin with, we decided the challenge could wait until first thing Monday morning. No charge for Friday. Turned out to be a broken thermostat. Greg showed up well ahead of schedule and diagnosed the problem quickly, a new one was installed, and the charge for parts and labor was very, very reasonable. Greg was the supreme professional, friendly, cordial, knowledgeable. Extremely competent. I could not recommend a company any higher. 5 Stars without question.

Roland is an excellent technician, very professional and knowledgeable about the air condition system. His very respectful and his always confirm his appointment and arrives on time. I highly recommend Roland!

Simon came out to do fix of a wall heater thermostat on an old Williams I have had other heating "experts" bs me about for a few years. He just installed the factory thermostat I could only found online. I also told him about my difficulty finding a good AC unit servicing company and when I told him what I paid $600 to clean compressor and coils, he shook his head and said that should not be more than about $150. So he sent Elia to check and he said this other company also overfilled the Refrigerant and can tax the compressor and he rebalance the pressure. Given their honesty and genuine help, I will use them in the future to service and eventaully replace my unit, but they are on track to keeping it working right. But I also will one of the first I will ask to bid on my next tenant unit renovation of a small kitchen/bathroom . They are also experts in mini splits which I hope to put in at that time. This is an honest company.
