This is a family owned business that you just cannot beat! Since we moved to "Tree City USA" Fairfax, we've had more than our share of tree issues, including two emergencies after terrible storms. Sean and his dad have come to our house more than once in the pouring rain to take a look at fallen limbs and trees that were about to fall. Is scheduling difficult at times? Maybe, but that's mostly the nature of the business. The bottom line is, I wouldn't trust anyone else with my tree business. These guys are pros worth waiting for!!

JL Tree Service responded to my request for an estimate quickly. They told me they would schedule removal within two weeks. They did it within a week. Hector A's crew came to my house today and did a fantastic job taking down our 200 year old, gigantic oak tree that had rotted at the base. They worked consistently from 8:30 am until 5:30 pm to get the tree down, which was no easy task. They were also really nice guys. They answered our questions and did a great job cleaning up after themselves. I can't say enough good things about this crew. What a great group of guys.

So, of course unplanned expenses add up when you move into a new place. Like your neighbor's rotting maple tree falling on your oak tree and then both trees hitting a third tree and then 48 feet of your fence. Add the fact that a large limb had broken but was balanced atop another tree creating a very hazardous work zone and endangering our fence/property again!

Enter JL tree service. I called 5 tree services with mixed results; one even charged $65 for an estimate! JL tree did not charge for an estimate. Their estimate was very fair. Not only did I get a same day estimate (via internet request too); they cleared their schedule to provide emergency service the next day after we signed a contract. Good thing too because a little bit of wind and there would have been more debris falling to the ground.

They also provided very fair add on pricing for a small job trimming branches from a cedar tree touching our roof.

The work was done well. Upon request, I even got to keep some of the single chipped debris/leaves for use as large mulch.

I learned my lesson the difficult way. I hired a guy who knocked on my door for a tree service. It was a simple job. Removing three (small to medium size) trees and their stumps. I emphasize that I wanted the stump to be removed. He promised to write me a contract, never did, and just started the job with 3 of his crew without notifying me. In the middle of finishing cutting the tree, he knocks on my door and tells me that he needs to get paid today (before removing the stump and finishing cleaning up) because he has to pay his babysitter that night. That's when the horror began. I told them that I would only pay partial amount, not full, since the job wasn't done. It took them 6 hours just to clean up the mess, after constantly harassing me and giving me excuses of why they couldn't clean up the yard mess. Of course, they never showed up the next day to remove the stump. I looked up their business card and they are located almost 2 hours away!

After the horrendous experience, I decide to go onto my neighborhood Facebook page to find a list of recommended tree service company. JR Tree Service was highly recommended by couple of my neighbors.

I sent a request online, they came out within 2 days for an estimate, and gave a reasonable estimate. This time, I have done my research. They are licensed and insured - a small local business that cares about their reputation.

From the estimator, to the customer service rep, and the guy who came out to remove the stump, they were professionals all the way. The guy who removed my stump explained everything thoroughly, and even cleaned the mess that was left around the stump with a blower. Couple of my stumps were right in front of my front porch and I was afraid that the foundation of my house may get damaged, but no damage in sight! I could not be more relieved and happier dealing with JL Tree Service.

Never hire a guy who knocks on your door for tree service. Their price isn't lower than JL Tree Service. JL Tree Service provides quality work at a reasonable price! Highly recommended! I know who I am calling next time I need a tree removal!

I had a very good experience with JL Tree the past few weeks. I had a large job, 10 large trees, removal, stump grinding, and haul away the mulch. Given the size of the job I got bids from multiple companies,and, as you would expect, JL had the most favorable overall price.
The first crew took down the trees, and used a crane to lift the logs over the house. With some weather delays that process took about a week. A second crew then came and did the stump grinding. That was one day. A third crew then came to remove all the mulch (two days).
Each crew was excellent, very capable and polite. No complaints. They left the yard in perfect condition. Even my neighbors were complimentary of the competence and neatness of the operation.
I did not have to pay anything until the job was finished. So I did not have to worry about that aspect. Overall, great experience.

We had a clump redbud suddenly shift outward after heavy winds. One trunk ended about 6" from the deck and another ended up leaning toward the house. Things were definitely too tricky to trust just a guy with a saw and a truck. I Googled Tree Service and three companies came up rated high enough to consider. The only one to call me back was Steven of JL. He came out on a Saturday, gave a fair estimate, and we agreed on the deal. Monday, his crew came out and they did a terrific job. No damage to the deck, house, or other plantings. They took away the wood and left only a few stray leaves to show they cared about our property. They were courteous both in person and on the phone. When I asked about the 10% coupon they were running, they agreed to simply take it off the estimate. No problem. We have lots of trees on our property, and now we have a tree service we will definitely use again and recommend highly.
