Good experience, would use again

Such a shame when dishonesty and sneaky behavior overshadows the work. Hired to replace a toilet and told it would be $175. I did my due diligence and asked what forms of payment were accepted and I was told “everything”.

When they arrived they offered $100 of additional services that we were happy to accept as we did need the additional work completed- they were happy to accept as this increased the profit they’d make for their visit.

During the close of transaction a $25 trip fee was added to the total. I asked why this wasn’t in the original quote and also not listed on the company’s Thumbtack page. She fumbled over herself to explain and rather than embarrass her and restate her ridiculous reasoning she quickly decided that it was unfair and that she would remove the charge.

I then asked to pay by Zelle and learned that they in fact DO NOT accept “everything” and if I wanted to pay by card there would be a 3.5% processing fee.

This company is dishonest and the owners are sneaky. Its normal to have taxes added on to a job but it’s not okay to hide additional fees until the very end and try to get away with it.

I would bet this dishonesty comes up in other facets of their business. Would not recommend.

I can see now from reading reviews that they’ve manipulated other customers in regards to costs and still choose to operate this way. Multiple reviews over years state this as an issue and they still choose not to include this information on their page. This is intentional. Thumbtack offers a section specifically for consult/trip fees. I have worked with other small businesses on Thumbtack that utilize this feature.

Send them home if you already have them booked. How’s that for a trip fee.

It’s not enough to be a small business. Strive to be a small HONEST business.

They came to the house within a day and fixed our problem without issue.

Make It Drain, located in Garner, came to our rescue on Saturday, Feb. 4.

A neighbor let us know mid-morning that we had a water leak near our meter. We called Aqua, our supplier, and Home Serve, the company that we have on contract that fixes issues on our side of the line. Aqua fixes issues on its side, but we have yet to have an issue on "their" side.

Aqua's communication system was down, which contributed to Home Serve showing up first. The meter was bent and Home Serve said it could not turn the water off.

We called Aqua numerous times. Finally, Aqua arrived, and the first responder had to call help. The water was finally turned off and we were told there was a leak in a hose on our side of the line ... a job that could be done quickly. Home Serve said a tree had to be removed before it could do the repair, but once the water was turned off, the tree was not the issue.

But rather than waste time, we called Make It Drain about 2 p.m., which had unclogged bathroom sinks for us a while back. They had a personal commitment that afternoon, but said they would let us know if they could come later in the day.

A bit later Make It Drain said it would be arriving in an hour, and they beat that estimate. They had come straight from their commitment, making sure they would arrive in daylight to be able to fix the issue easier rather than try to use lights at night. They leak was fixed in 20 minutes.

Can't thank Make It Drain enough.

Great experience, will be using for more projects

Make it drain has become my goto plumber in the Raleigh area. Their communication is top tier, they are respectful of your time and they do great work at a fair price. Their response time was fast, they got me on the books as quick as they could and arrived precisely when they said they would. I'll be using them for all of my Raleigh plumbing needs from here on out.
