I recently chose Merrifield Garden Center for floral arrangements for my wedding. Tina Sauceda was WONDERFUL!! She worked with our budget, our timeline, and our preferences - and came up with some great ideas! She was always responsive and easy to reach and delivered everything she promised. Tina saved us money and made our special day even more beautiful. Thanks!!

What a joy this place is. Today I walked in with samples of my sick rose bushes - you know - the carpet roses and those double knock-outs that are supposed to be disease-free? Well, ignore all that. Notwithstanding my spraying regimen this year, all of my roses look sick, so 18 year-old daughter and I gathered samples and went to Merrifield (where she remembers seeing Dr. John as Santa Claus). Anyhow, the most knowledgeable botanist I have ever dealt with looked at the carpet roses in their plastic bag and immediately pronounced them dead on arrival as having Rose Rosette. Having come home and done further research I find he was dead right and all of the roses have to be dug up, preferably with some of the dirt, bagged tightly and sent to a landfill. So much for my wonderful carpet roses. Then I showed him the baggie with my severely chomped on "double knockouts" and we agreed I had black spot but also rose slugs. Right again. And he showed me the proper rose spray to use to try and salvage them. Finally, I showed him what I thought was a type of english boxwood that needed to be replaced and he immediately corrects me telling me that it was Japanese holly. Right again. And he directed me to where I could get a replacement for one that is failing. The checkout folks could use a little more customer relations lessons (too many teens giggling and boys acting out in arrogant fashion at check out - they don't allow that at American Plant Food - the teens are pleasant, helpful and also help you take everything to your car) but I left knowing exactly what was "eating" my roses and what to do about it. Very pleased. It was worth trying to get through all the nearby construction. And, yes, they are expensive, but I dropped almost $100 today because they have such knowledgeable people who can tell me exactly what to do, buy, not buy and what kind of soil to use for particular plantings. Wish I lived closer.

This review is for their landscaping services. This is the message I just sent them.
"Well I just got back from looking at the job you did at a rental property. you did a terrible job. I told my partner if he still owed you money don't pay. I'm joining Angie's List just to leave a truthful comment. Not only did you do a bad job but you left a dead branch off the holly laying in the landscape. You didn't even rake up the beds, didn't trim the weed, let alone get rid of them, and ivy off the sidewalk, and didn't pick up the branches off the weed out back. Just terrible.
What was $30K landscaping in the front of a patio home now looks like the cheap landscaping you see at a gas station.
I'll also post this over at Yelp and other blogs so customers know to go somewhere else."
If you own a cheap gas station you now know who to call.

MGC has everything, including really helpful staff. Their plant doctor is amazing: he identified two different problems on two different plant samples I brought in. On multiple visits, the outside staff have been so helpful. They know everything, and if they don't, then they go find out. They have a tremendous selection and all the plants are really healthy.
I shop here as well as Meadows Farms and Home Depot for my plants. MGC is the most expensive as they rarely offer much off on their weekly special deals. When I shop the deals at Meadow Farms, the prices are better than Home Depot, and I am still getting a great nursery plant. No one, however, has the staff to compare to MGC.
