Neighborhood hero contacted me within minutes after I posted a request on Thumbtack. Within an hour the technician came to my home. The repair was completed two days later. The whole experience was excellent. I highly recommend this professional.

I recently hired this company for a AC diagnosis and repair project and had an incredibly disappointing experience overall. The price they initially quoted was not accurate ā the final bill ended up being much higher because the originally quoted price which he said was $X per pound of refrigerant + hourly labor for a total of approximately $1200. After asking for an invoice for 2 days, I finally got one and it reflected a price of more than $1600. Figuring that was an estimate if the project took longer on the backend while we waited for a part, I did not raise hell.
Although the initial service call was very prompt, after that day when we discussed the project, what part would need to be ordered, and when it could reasonably be expected to return, the speed of follow-ups and following through drastically diminished such that nothing would get done unless I initiated contact. Although Stan said it would be about 2 days for the needed part to come in, he didn't discover the wrong part had been ordered/sent until day 7; it was another 5 days before that part came in and he could come and do the original repair. To add insult to injury, after he said he completed the project, he said I owed him another 600+ for labor on the competition of the repair. As I knew he had not spent that many hours completing the repair based on the stated hourly rate, I asked for clarification. It was at this point he told me it wasn't really hourly labor but a flat rate (that says it's hourly on the invoice). Annoyed but happy to have AC, I paid it and hoped I was done with Stan. Unfortunately, I still didn't have AC that evening, so Stan had to come back again the following day to figure out what was still wrong. According to him, although I paid for "a full charge" of 8 pounds of refrigerant, he sheepishly admitted he didn't give me that much when he completed my repair so my system still couldn't operate even with the ordered part. So not only did the repair take forever, he tried to rip me off too.
I had hoped for a smooth and somewhat predictable process but instead ended up spending tons of extra time and money chasing Stan down to complete the work, had to buy a temporary unit because the extraordinary delays meant I was without AC for 2 weeks and it was 89 degrees inside while I was trying to sleep. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this company based on my experience.

The actual furnace install for a/c was alright (for now). If it breaks down within a year, I'm just doing a chargeback or small-claims.
Everything else in between was absolutely terrible.
No professionalism.
They were hours late.
They used my tools.
They fell through the ceiling.
They don't wear booties when walking through the house.
They don't greet residents.
The person whom I originally contacted wasn't even present for the job.
Nothing was in writing.
They left trash outside.
They took 2x the amount of time required for the actual work.
He tried to raise the price of the job after work had started, even though the scope of the actual job decreased (he thought I wasn't listening to conversations had amongst themselves.)
And the last bit: Please standby and listen for any and all conversations had between parties whether it be directly to you or amongst themselves. Stanley had stated to his partner, whom was attempting to grasp the situation at hand upon arrival, "just turn the furnace to make it look like we did something". That's not how you go about treating people whose money spends just the same. That's not how you go about handling issues at hand in relation to customer concerns.
You get what you pay for.
Do not recommend.
Would not rehire.
His partner was actually knowledgeable though and did a supply plenum offset for the furnace instead of rotating the whole unit. He worked Work smarter, not harder. I applaud his problem solving.

It is with regret that I have to give a negative review but unfortunately after trying for days to get Stan to respond I have no option. We agreed on original installation of thermostat which included adding a wire. Alas I needed to buy a kit for that. So Stan said that he would come back to finish when I got the kit and I paid the full agreed price. We agreed that he would install another thermostat at the same time when he came back, making the second visit worthwhile. For reasons best known to him he refuses to answer or commit to completing the job. It is a shame because my original impression was positive.

Neighborhood Hero HVAC is hands down one of the best HVAC companies Iāve ever worked with. From the moment I contacted them, their customer service was top-notch friendly, responsive, and genuinely eager to help.
The technician showed up right on time and got straight to work. He quickly diagnosed the issue with my AC, explained everything clearly, and walked me through the repair process so I knew exactly what to expect. No hidden fees, no pushy sales tactics just honest, reliable service.

Came out within the hour and fixed our unit at a reasonable price!
