I requested an estimate on replacing my hot water heater. Stan's Heating, Air, Plumbing, and Electrical sent Kenya Simms to my home. Kenya arrived at exactly 2:00 p.m., and went into my attic, evaluated the job, and took photos. She also discovered another issue that was found and we thoroughly discussed that. She took time to help me understand the problem, wrote up the estimate, and gave me several options for financing. I needed time to make a decision as to which option to take, so I told Kenya that I would contact her in a day or two. Update: Two days later, I telephoned Stan's and requested that Kenya call me. In a very short time, she called and we made an appointment for her to come to my home. I told her that I had decided to proceed with the outside work to replace the PRV. She came at the appointed time and brought the paperwork for me to sign. She said that she would do the work between 10:00 a.m. and Noon the next day. She arrived the next day and completed the work around Noon, as she had said she would. But, instead of leaving immediately, she came inside and checked all my water faucets to be sure the water pressure was adequate throughout the house. I am very favorably impressed with Kenya. She is knowledgeable, professional, and very considerate. I will certainly call on her again in the future.

I had my home built here in Austin 30 years ago. Stan's installed the original HVAC system and then installed an updated HVAC system fifteen years ago. Both systems performed flawlessly. I subscribe to Stan's Gold Service, which provides a semi-annual checkup to make sure the HVAC system is performing satisfactorily. The Gold Service visits have always been conducted professionally and successfully.

During my most recent service visit, performed by Luis Nunez, I mentioned that I was hearing a low-pitched humming noise that seemed to be coming from the upstairs unit. Luis suggested that it sounded like a defective 12v transformer, and recommended replacement. Several days later, Robert Alfred replaced the transformer successfully. Both Luis and Robert were very professional. Unfortunately, following the transformer repair, the humming noise was still there. I performed a quick inspection and determined that the hum was actually coming from a doorbell transformer. I called Stan's, informed supervisor Mickey about the mix-up, and Mickey graciously offered to refund the cost of the previous repair service call. It's customer service like this that ensures that I will stay with Stan's going forward, and I am even contemplating replacing my current HVAC system with a new one this spring.

Let me start by expressing my disappointment with Stans, a company I used to trust wholeheartedly until today. Up until 2019, they were exceptional. However, ever since a private equity firm got involved, their services have dramatically declined, and their prices have soared beyond reason.

In 2019, I had my HVAC system replaced by Stans, and I couldn't praise them enough. Kevin, who handled the installation, was remarkable – professional and transparent. Sadly, in the past couple of years, their quality has plummeted while their rates have skyrocketed.

In 2021, during the great freeze, I needed my water heater replaced. Stans quoted me over $4000 for installation only, a job that took my plumber friend and me just 45 minutes (I had I bought the same exact model water heater days before the freeze). I reported them for price gouging, but it fell on deaf ears. During this summer's heatwave, my AC struggled to cool the house, despite a higher tonnage furnace we installed for safety. Stans' technicians offered varying explanations, each accompanied by quotes ranging from $600 to $1800. All this while the unit was still under warranty, making these charges solely for labor.

Recently, I sought bids to replace cast iron pipes under my house. Stans quoted an exorbitant $97k for a 1500 sqft house, claiming 120 feet of tunnels were necessary. Comparatively, other bids ranged from $20k to $30k. Stans' greed became evident.

Today, my heater wouldn't start, and a technician from Stans diagnosed a faulty gas valve, covered under warranty. However, they insisted I pay $600 for labor, justifying it with paperwork requirements for the replacement part. A one-hour job, they said, which amounts to $600 plus a $100 trip fee for a part under warranty. Outrageous.

I won't dictate your choices, but I discourage anyone from choosing Stans. Opt for a local company that respects you and doesn't attempt to swindle you at every turn. Stans has lost sight of customer care, driven solely by greed, and it's evident they're exploiting their customers.

Service is pretty mediocre. I was just supposed to get an estimate to fix a problem. But instead they came out and charged me a diagnostic fee. They also overquoted for a sink installation. $420 is not worth an hour of their time, especially when they don't even send an actual plumber out.

Robert came out and replaced the capacitor on my unit. He was prompt, diagnosed the problem and had it fixed quickly. Much appreciated in triple digit temps.

Rogelio replaced the kitchen sink and let me know about high water pressure issue. He worked quickly and went above and beyond.

Had Stan's come out and replace the anode rod in my water heater. Kaleb the technician was very respectful and courteous. He did a great job, I am very happy with the service.
