Paid $50 but never received an estimate -- very disappointing experience

I normally don't leave negative reviews, but I think it's important to share my experience so other homeowners know what to expect.

I hired Voltyx Services to provide an estimate for a few small electrical projects (switch replacement and installing an LED bathroom mirror). They scheduled a technician to come on Saturday, spent almost an hour on site, and charged me a $50 service/assessment fee -- which I fully expected as long as I received a proper estimate afterwards.

However, after the visit, there was zero follow-up.
No estimate, no message, no update -- nothing.

During the appointment, the technician verbally mentioned around $240 per light, but since I had quotes from other companies, I asked for a written estimate so I could compare properly. He told me he would calculate everything once he returned to the office and send the quote. I even reminded them clearly that the other company offered much lower pricing, and they were welcome to provide their best reasonable estimate.

But after that day, the communication simply ended.

For a company that charges a service-call fee, the minimum professional courtesy is to:
1. Provide the estimate you promised
2. Let the customer know if you cannot match the price
3. Or at least update the customer instead of leaving them waiting

None of these happened.

In the end, I paid $50 but received no actual service -- not even a follow-up message or a simple "we can't take the job."

Very disappointing and unprofessional. My time was wasted, and the $50 fee felt completely unjustified since the service was never completed.

I hope the company sees this and improves their communication and follow-through for future customers.

I want to clarify that the issue was never about the $50. It was about the lack of follow-through and communication after the on-site visit. For over a week, I didn't receive any estimate or update, which made me question the reliability of the service process.

I also want to acknowledge that your technician did come to my home and spent time assessing the work, so I do not need the $50 refunded.

At this point, I've already hired another company that has provided a clearer and more reliable process.

Voltyx upgraded my electrical panel to 200A. This involved laying a conduit in an underground trench to the street. Timur and Arthur did an excellent quality job. They are friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Over the 7 months it took to get the project done, they worked well with PG&E staff. I found the rates quoted to be reasonable as well. I would wholeheartedly recommend Voltyx team for electrical projects.

The actual service was great and I'd use them again. My only hang-up was Zelle being the only digital option to pay without having to pay a processing fee which can be material on higher invoices; maybe consider some kind of direct ACH payment option for customers.

Outside of that, I'd give a 5 star and would use them again (with a check in hand next time!).

Jason, in particular, went above and beyond. He took the time to walk me through how everything worked, explaining the settings, service intervals, and even how to access the filters. His attention to detail and willingness to ensure I fully understood the system really impressed me.

All in all, Voltx delivered a seamless experience from consultation to completion. I'd absolutely hire them again and recommend them to anyone looking for top-tier HVAC installation and service.
