We had an excellent experience with Mr Chimney. Mr Chimney was very fast to respond, scheduled service extremely soon, was one of if not the most reasonably priced chimney contractors in the area, was informative throughout the process, and did not pressure us to have unnecessary work. Highly recommended. We recently purchased our new home and were looking forward to using our fireplace in the winter. However, our house inspector during closing noted our chimney appeared to have some cracks and needed to be inspected by a specialist, and we were aware annual chimney inspections are a good practice, regardless. After contacting Mr Chimney on ThumbTack, they messaged us back the same day to inquire about location and availability, and we scheduled an appointment. Our technician was running a few minutes late to the first appointment, but Mr Chimney messaged us earlier that day letting us know when to expect the technician. The technician inspected and cleaned our chimney for $150. As it turns out, my home work station is right next to the fireplace, so I was able to observe the technician work and was satisfied that the cleaning was thorough. The fireplace and chimney must not have been cleaned in awhile and was quite dirty. Upon inspection of the exterior of the chimney from the roof, we got bad news from our technician. Our new home didn't have a chimney crown, and so there was extensive water damage. Indeed, the roof had been replaced around the chimney, likely due to water damage. Because of this, we would need to install a new crown with sealant, replace a few bricks, and fill in cracks in the chimney. Our Mr Chimney technician showed us pictures that he took of the all the damage and thoroughly explained to us all the issues. This is obviously a major expense. Angi.com states that just replacing a chimney crown is typically $1,800 to $3,000, but our Mr Chimney technician gave us an estimate of $1,800 for repairs and crown replacement. After researching chimney repair on our own, we contacted Mr Chimney that night, and they were able to scheduled our repairs. We were assured we did not have to be home for the repairs to be done since they would be on the roof, but we were kept informed as to when technicians would arrive. Two technicians came the very next day to repair the brickwork and lining and install a new crown, and a technician came the day after this to apply the crown sealant. I'm not sure Mr Chimney is always this fast, but our technician did note that they wanted to get the work done before rain that was forecasted for the coming days. There was additional work repairing bricks farther down the masonry near the chimney we could have done, but was non-critical. Our Mr Chimney technician was honest about this and did not pressure us to add this in order to upsell us.

I paid a lot of money to have my ducts and two chimneys cleaned. When the tech came, he let us know that we had mold in our HVAC unit. They wanted to charge us $700 more to clean the mold. Now that I am searching for a cheaper quote to clean the mold out of the HVAC unit, companies are telling me that the mold removal should have been included in the duct cleaning. I am realizing that this company did not provide the full and standard service that is normal in the industry.
