First time I used this company.. wanted my chimney checked and cleaned.Arriving on time,Rudi and Julio kept me informed on the procedure they would do and answered any questions I had.. they cleaned my chimney and damper area thoroughly without leaving any debris.I highly recommend American Professional Chimney and Masonry

Called them after my water heater failed an emissions test during an energy audit. They explained why that had happened and why it wouldn't make sense to do anything about it until I need to replace the boiler. $250.

Can't really rate based on this interaction, but I've received endless requests to provide a rating so here it is.

An incredible company that demonstrates the pinnacle of professionalism. Stephan was just incredible, knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything. I have never encountered such an outstanding team. To top it all off, they protected themselves and our home while they worked which is a rare find. This is the go to company for all your fireplace needs. Regardless of your needs, gas inserts to regular fireplaces, they are THE go to professionals!

Very professional and knowledgable repair of my chimney. They had to remortar a good portion of the chimney because of leaks coming down into my basement along the column. The inside lining was also deteriorated and I was given the option of either no longer using the chimney for fear of causing a fire from soot collecting in the cracks of the flue, or running 2 new liners up through the chimney to service the fireplace and the hot water heater. They explained everything thoroughly and provided me with images taken so that I could assess the damage myself. They also gave me options that allowed me to decide the best course based on what I could afford. They provided discounts to help as well. I received estimates from 3 different companies and not only were they competitive with the other estimates, they were also the most straight forward, knowledgable, and low pressured. They completed the work efficiently and just about on schedule with just a single expected delay due to rain. They were also willing to accommodate my schedule in setting up work inside the house. They cleaned up everything and the work was excellent. A year later and we've had no leaking since.

I'm rating the technician who came to our home twice as a 5, and this company as a 3, for an overall rating of 4.

But to be very clear, David S. was our tech and he was terrific, a 5! He was on time, polite, respectful, personable, knew his stuff technically, and was at ease explaining everything technically including our options.

He came here the first time to assess our two gas fireplaces that weren't working properly (fee was $74 each, $148 total). He came here the second time to service/clean/repair the two units, including replacing the pilot assemblies ($587 each, $1,174 total). Excellent work by David who is a solid ambassador for this company.

However, the company dragged its own banner through the mud by calling us the morning of the second visit, and leaving a voicemail message along these lines:

"Hi, this is American Professional Chimney and Masonry calling. Our technician is scheduled to be there this afternoon, but we haven't heard from you to confirm this appointment. Please call us to confirm or reschedule."

That was ridiculous and outrageous and totally unnecessary. The insinuation was that we needed to call back to confirm an already-confirmed appointment, or else they would cancel it and reschedule it.

Here's why that was absurd:

1) The tech was here the first time and we didn't "no show" him. Cost = $148 for the assessments.

2) The tech gave us a proposal to clean/service/repair the two fireplaces ($1,174). We called the office and scheduled the date and time for the work to be done.

3) Per company policy, we used our charge card to pay for the parts - the two pilot assemblies - ahead of time, so they could be ordered ahead of the second visit ($298).

4) At no time were we told we would be expected to double confirm the second visit. We can't read minds.

To summarize, we were already a paying customer who'd spent $174 + $298 = $472 with this company. We weren't some total unknown to them seeking a freebie. We'd previously scheduled the date and time of the second visit. And by the time all was said and done, we would spend $174 + $1,174 = $1,322 with them which included having paid $298 for the parts.

And yet they called the morning of the second visit saying "We haven't heard from you confirming....."

It was silly from a business perspective and their office procedures tainted the excellent work of their technician. They have room for improvement in their procedures and what they say when they call the day of the appointment.

I wanted to rate this company a 3 because of that but didn't want that to reflect on David, the tech, who got a well-deserved 5.

We contacted American Professional Chimney to recommend and quote a new gas fireplace to replace our 20 year old existing fireplace which had stopped working. They came out promptly and gave us a thorough review of options including fixing our current unit. What we liked was that they came on site to inspect our current system without cost and without commitment to purchase anything from them. Also they were able to do the complete job including putting a new tiling face and remounting the mantle, which other vendors would not do. The job was done within the timeframe promised and the technicians who came to install were courteous and professional. Overall, we we extremely happy with our experience with American Professional Chimney.
