Very professional operation. I called Green Collar after receiving a proposal from another HVAC company to add insulation and resolve some temperature imbalance and leaking air duct problems. Bill C arrived at my home at the scheduled time and went through the entire house including attics. Then he sat down with me and reviewed what he had seen and discussed options to resolve problems that existed. He left me with an itemized list of potential improvements with costs. After taking several weeks to decide what we needed to do, I called Bill with some final questions and then told him which items we wanted to go forward with and the work was scheduled. The office called me the day before the crew arrived to confirm the expected arrival time window. The crew arrived on time and reviewed with me the work they planned to complete that day, then got to work. They were friendly and courteous, and were careful to clean up before they left. The work was completed as planned after a second day that went much like the first. Rob, the owner, made an appointment and come out the following week to check the work and make sure we were happy with everything.

We called Green Collar because we had a few known heating and air conditioning issues and we were curious to see if they could provide additional recommendations. We recognized that a "free energy audit" is really just an invitation to write an estimate for all sorts of corrective measures, whether cost effective or not.

We were very satisfied with the audit. Brad identified a few tangible things that would provide the best bang for the buck, and he was very careful not to suggest marginal improvements and he even talked us out of a few ideas that we suggested because he thought they would not be cost effective.

In addition to recommendations to correct our obvious needs (mostly insulation), we plan to pay them to seal HVAC leaks and test air flow through our ducts.

Pricing compares favorably with other estimates.
Hopefully the install will be as good as the "audit".

I began my experience with Green Collar Opeartations a little uncertain after being offered a FREE inspection and energy audit. An appointment was made with "Adam", who arrived on time and we quickly began inspecting the A/C in the attic along with the windows & doors of my house. The energy rebate program was explained to me and it was made clear that with some additional insulation and some minor additions of some door sweeps, I could receive the rebate from both the city & the gas company for making my home more energy efficient. In addition, the service qualifies for a tax credit from the federal govt. and lower energy bills. No sales pitch to make uneeded repairs to my A/C or do anything that didn't obviously need to be done.

I made an appointment with Green Collar to do the work and once again, 2 very professional installers came to my house at the pre-arranged appointment date/time. They spent about 4 hours doing the work and were efficient and neat in their work, At no charge, one of them offered to repair one of the exterior doors that was sagging and although it only needed a couple of new screws in one of the hinges, it was one of those things that I never got around to fixing myself. As a part of the work, they also inspected the A/C duct work and performed a test of the unit's efficency with special meters Insualtion was added in the attic to take me from R15 to R49!

In about a week or so, Rob Scott, COO, made an appointment to come inspect the work, Again arriving exactly on time, Rob completed his inspection quickly. He seemed pleased with the work done by his employees and was very personable & professional.

City of Austin Energy Inspector, "Chuck", was present prior to the work being done and after Rob's inspection, assuring me that Austin Energy will be mailing me a check in the next couple of weeks, followed by an check from Texas Gas a little later.

All in all, my experience with Green Collar was very positive! What's not to like about professional service & saving money?

I got several quotes for insulation and weatherization. They were the least expensive (which is not a reason you should pick a contractor, necessarily, but they happened to be.) Once I gave them the go ahead, they set up the pre-inspection from Austin Energy, did the work, in and out. People were unobtrusive and cleaned up after themselves. As near as I can tell they did a good job. I definitely recommend hiring them, or at least letting them give you a quote.

My attic was woefully under-insulated. I called several companies and Green Collar was the one that expressed the most interest in doing the work and at a fair price.

I also had some attic ventilation put in by others, and between the new insulation and attic fans I am already seeing a difference in the temperature of the house. The thermostat used to be set at 73, now I have to put it up to 77. They did good work in the attic, made sure not to blow insulation over the soffit vents, kept everything contained and looking good. I love my attic now and basically want to just hang out in it!

The technicians arrived one hour late one morning and did not call beforehand. I had to call to ask where they were.

The folks from Green Collar were super. They were very professional and did a great job. They are also good about calling and emailing information. They call back right away and keep you informed as you go through the process with the City of Austin. Can't say enough good things about Green Collar Operations.
