Transforming Outdoor Spaces Beautifully
Transforming Outdoor Spaces Beautifully
At Iconic Landscaping LLC, we understand that a well-designed outdoor space can bring new life to a home. Recently, we had the pleasure of working with Janet Medlin, who envisioned transforming her yard into a beautiful landscape that not only enhanced her property but also pleased her neighbors. The project involved comprehensive landscaping services, including hardscaping, softscaping, and drip system installation—an exciting challenge for our dedicated team.
The Challenge: A Yard in Need of a Makeover
When Janet first contacted us, she expressed her desire to rejuvenate her outdoor space. The yard, while spacious, lacked cohesive design and functionality. The existing elements were outdated, and she hoped to create a space that was not only aesthetically pleasing but also practical in terms of maintenance. With Janet's clear vision, we set out to create a harmonious outdoor area that met her needs.
> “Iconic Landscaping is great! Responsive, hard workers, great fair pricing and they do what they say they’ll do, when they say they’re going to do it!” - Janet Medlin
Our Approach: Collaboration and Craftsmanship
Our team began the project by working closely with Janet to solidify her ideas and outline the key components of the job. We focused on three main areas:
1. Hardscape Installation: To lay a strong foundation, we had to install durable hardscape elements that would serve both function and form. This included pathways, patios, and seating areas designed to invite relaxation and gathering.
2. Softscape Enhancement: Next, we incorporated beautiful plants, trees, and shrubs to soften the hard edges of the built structures. We chose native plants that thrive in our local climate, ensuring that the landscape would flourish with minimal maintenance.
3. Drip System Installation: To maintain the vibrancy of the newly planted softscapes, we implemented an efficient drip irrigation system. This system would provide precise watering, keeping the plants healthy while conserving water.
Throughout the project, we faced and overcame several challenges, including uneven ground and existing turf that needed to be replaced. Our experienced team worked meticulously alongside Janet, ensuring every detail was perfect, particularly with the hardscape installations. We also ensured the teamwork was seamless—everyone on-site shared a commitment to quality and enjoyed the collaborative process.
The Result: A Gorgeous Outdoor Oasis
The transformation of Janet's yard was remarkable. The hardscapes provided structure and usability, while the softscapes added beauty and color. The drip system not only enhanced the landscape aesthetic but also ensured the health of the plants.
By the end of our work, Janet was thrilled with the results:
> “Great workmanship on the hardscape! Rafa leads the workers and himself makes sure the placement of everything is just right. So pleased!” - Janet Medlin
We were proud to see how our work not only elevated her home's exterior but also created a space for family gatherings.

Transforming a Lawn into a Xeriscape Oasis
At Iconic Landscaping LLC, we take immense pride in transforming outdoor spaces to perfectly fit our customers’ needs. Recently, we had the pleasure of working with a client in Auburn, WA, who wanted to tackle the pressing issue of high watering costs for their front yard lawn. This project not only provided a means to reduce water usage but also gave us the opportunity to showcase our expertise in creating stunning Xeriscape landscapes.
Understanding the Challenge
When we were first contacted by Geoff Dundas, he expressed frustration over the excessive watering needs of his traditional lawn. Maintaining a lush green yard was proving expensive and unsustainable in the long run. Geoff wanted to explore a more water-efficient option that would also enhance the aesthetic appeal of his home.
Our team listened attentively to Geoff's needs and quickly proposed a plan for converting his water-heavy lawn into a serene Xeriscape landscape. We knew that this would not only align with his budget expectations but also create an eco-friendly solution that would stand the test of time.
The Transformation Process
Once we finalized the design and gained Geoff's approval, our dedicated crew got to work. The transformation involved several key steps:
1. Designing a Water-Efficient Layout: We drafted a plan highlighting drought-resistant plants and strategic rock placements to minimize water loss and enhance visual appeal.
2. Site Preparation: Our team arrived early to prepare the area, removing the existing grass and invasive weeds that competed for moisture.
3. Installation of Xeriscape Elements: We meticulously selected native plants and ornamental stones that require minimal upkeep while thriving in the local climate. Our goal was to create a low-maintenance yet vibrant landscape.
4. Finishing Touches: We added pathways and decorative areas to provide functionality while ensuring the space felt inviting and cohesive.
Throughout the installation, we encountered some challenges, including the need for adjustments due to varying soil conditions. However, our team's expertise allowed us to quickly adapt and overcome these hurdles without compromising on quality.
The Stunning Results
The end result was nothing short of breathtaking! Our Xeriscape transformation not only fulfilled Geoff's desire to save on watering costs but also turned his front yard into a beautiful and sustainable oasis.

Transforming a Front Yard into a Xeriscape Oasis
At Iconic Landscaping LLC, we are always eager to take on the exciting challenges that come our way. Recently, we had the pleasure of working with a wonderful client, Don Zdeba, who approached us with a critical need – to revitalize the front landscape of their newly purchased home in Auburn, WA. Their front yard had not seen any maintenance for nearly a year, resulting in what they described as a "weed garden." It was clear that they needed our expertise to turn this neglected space into a vibrant xeriscape.
Understanding Our Client's Needs
When we first met Don, he expressed his desire to transform the overgrown area and introduce a more sustainable landscape design that required less water. He specifically wanted to convert the entire space to a xeriscape. Moreover, the area between the sidewalk and the street was also in need of an upgrade. We loved the challenge and commitment to sustainability that Don presented, so we quickly got to work.
The Transformation Process
Incorporating our expertise and the latest landscaping techniques, we focused on a few crucial steps:
1. Initial Assessment: We evaluated the existing landscape to determine the best approach for eliminating weeds and preparing the soil.
2. Design Planning: Listening closely to Don's ideas, we crafted a design that would not only fit his vision but also incorporate native plants that thrive in our climate.
3. Quick Turnaround: Don reached out to several contractors, but we were proud to respond promptly. Our owner, Sherry, was at his door the very next day. Despite it being late in the season and temperatures dropping, our team was able to prioritize his project and schedule it swiftly to ensure its completion before winter.
4. Implementation: With care and dedication, our crew began the transformation. We carefully removed the weeds, enriched the soil, and planted drought-resistant plants that would enhance both the beauty and sustainability of the yard.
Stunning After Results
The transformation was nothing short of dramatic. Once overrun with weeds, the front yard is now a stunning xeriscape oasis that serves as an attractive welcome to the home. Not only did we succeed in beautifying the landscape, but all plantings survived the winter thanks to our meticulous installation.
