As I grew up, my parents taught me to show up on time for school and work, work hard, give a task my best effort possible, be respectful of other people’s property, and be kind to others.
How delighted I have been to engage Innovative Design + Build (ID+B) recently. It seems the Company and all employees were also raised by my mom and dad.
Meghan was the Project Coordinator for my kitchen renovation, and was so attentive to my thoughts about a new kitchen, as well as any time I called or texted her to ask a question. She met with me several times and walked me through the 12 steps the Company employs to keep my project on task, on time, and on budget, and started me with BuilderTrend, their electronic platform for communication that is priceless. She was always honest and straightforward, and in the nicest way. She thoroughly communicated my ideas to my Designer, Cassie.
Cassie listened closely to my wishes and ideas, and offered appropriate choices to narrow down the best selections for paint colors, countertop, hardware, lighting fixtures, cabinet styles, choices of doors, backsplash, flooring and window treatments. She then created a couple of design sketches that incorporated my ideas and her expertise to get us to the absolutely perfect plan!
Sabrina, my Draftsperson, took those sketches and drafted them to exact measurements and specifications so I and all ID+B folks and all subcontractors would be able to refer to them daily and no mistakes were made. Excellent work!
The Friday before my project was to begin on Monday, I met Raul, my Project Manager, and Haylan, my Site Supervisor. These two gentlemen were invaluable to me. They were onsite at my home or texting me continuously with updates to keep me informed of how my project was progressing. If a painter or electrician suddenly had an opening in their schedule, they would work to get the subcontractor in and keep me on schedule or even earlier than my projected finish date. They gave me a walk-through and update every week and continued to ask for my feedback. They made suggestions that helped my house be more efficient, and assisted me in so many ways I can’t count them all. They were very respectful of me and my husband, our dogs, and our property.
I must say Santiago, my Carpenter, is such a great employee and a genuinely nice person. He arrived daily at least 10 minutes early and kept the project area clean and organized. In addition to his excellent carpentry work on my project, he built shelves for a small closet in my guest bathroom and fixed two doors that had not closed properly in years. He was so thoughtful and helpful during the project that I miss him and his gentle ways now that my renovation is finished.
All employees and subcontractors were the best folks I have met. All were trustworthy and respectful, in addition to being the best at their craft. I don’t mean to overlook anyone, but the cabinetmaker, electricians and painters were excellent subcontractors. The quality of work, and attention to detail, is so evident that I am thankful every day I decided to use ID+B. And I would use them again and again.

We recently renovated our basement with Innovative and could not be more impressed! We’ve worked on other renovations and this was by far the best experience. I knew when our power, water would be off and back on; Diego and Isais were excellent project managers and communicators. We are thrilled with Innovative and recommend their team highly.

March 1, 2024: This was our second project with Innovative Design-Build. After our first experience we didn’t need to decide who was going to do the project, we went straight to Innovative. This project involved preparing our master bath for “the aging process” as we expect this to be our home for the rest of our lives.
Once again, we met first with Meghan, Innovative’s project developer. She’s so much more than that, more like a friend and confidante. We talked about our needs, and our desire to have a bathroom that was functional, safe, and beautiful. As we discussed the project it became clear that we needed to focus on both the bathroom and the master bedroom.
From there Innovative took on the design task. Cassie and Sabrina came to our house to take measurements using a variety of 21st century looking tools to ensure that they had every detail about the space when they took up their design work. They then presented several design ideas for the layout of the new bathroom, including two features that were high on our list – a zero entry shower and a two-tiered vanity that could be accessed while either standing or sitting.
After we agreed on the general layout Cassie and Sabrina went to work on preparing options for the flooring and shower tile, countertops, sinks, and fixtures, while incorporating Meghan’s idea of “ADA light” throughout in a way that was decorative rather than institutional. When we came for our design meeting at Innovative’s beautiful showroom (It looks like a typical construction office when you drive up, but once you go inside, you get a clear sense of Innovative’ s potential) they had 3 or more options for everything that would be part of the project. We came away from that meeting with all design choices made and signed the construction contract shortly thereafter.
It was about 10 weeks from signing the agreement to the beginning of construction. Diego Hernandez was assigned as our Project Manager. Such a great guy. Early in the project when it appeared we had no hot water in the house on a Saturday morning I emailed him, just to let him know what was happening so that he could attend to it on Monday. He was at the house to address the problem in less than an hour.
Diego’s construction timeline that we reviewed called for 65 days. The project, with several change orders we initiated, was completed in 63. Three staff from Innovative were on site during the project. Justin was there nearly every day, while Isaias and Diego Sr. were also there when additional manpower was needed. Innovative used sub-contractors for plumbing, electrical, mechanical, painting, tile and cabinetry. Everyone came on time, on schedule, and delivered quality work.
The work zone was sealed off from the rest of the house. The work area was cleaned and vacuumed at the end of each day. When workmen need to access the basement, their route of travel was covered to ensure they didn’t track anything in. They even covered the floor in our unfinished basement!
While everyone did a great job, we want to recognize Justin Garcia for his work. He became pretty much a member of the family. The dog and cat were his buddies. He always announced his arrival and departure. He was Diego’s stand in when Diego took some time off. When folks dropped off sandwiches for a volunteer project we participate in, Justin would bring the sandwiches in the house and pop them in the refrigerator. Almost every text from him was accompanied by pictures of what he was talking about.
Here’s the bottom line. You won’t get a better renovation experience than what you get with Innovative. These folks are professional, and their work product is exceptional. My wife and I now say when we walk in our home that we can turn right into the master suite and it’s like being in a brand-new house. My guess is that one day Innovative will make it so that we feel the same way when we turn left! Thanks Innovative!

Innovative just completed a remodel on our home. We renovated three baths (including primary), added two new baths, new kitchen and renovated the den and sunroom. We chose Innovative primarily because of their process-oriented approach to the project and their detailing planning phase. Molly and the design team had creative ideas during the design phase and came up with a layout we had never considered. The project went smoothly from start to finish. The timeline was clearly laid out, and we knew what to expect each day of the project. The finished product is fantastic. Special thanks to Raul and Haylan who were on site daily making sure everything ran smoothly, and Santiago for his craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Innovative worked with me to update my home that was built in 1964. Home renovations can be a daunting undertaking, especially with an older home. I’m so glad I chose to work with Innovative. Innovative made the process smooth, on time and even fun! My kitchen and baths project involved extensive plumbing and electrical work in addition updating the home aesthetic for today’s needs.
From the initial consultation to the project completion, they were professional and the quality of their work is top-notch. Molly and Sabrina on the design team were creative and helpful in pulling together the selections and finishes that captured my style. The construction team (especially Raul, Haylan and Santiago) brought it all to life. They went above and beyond to make sure things were done right.
The entire team was efficient and dependable in working through the project timeline—finishing ahead of schedule. My neighbors even commented on their professionalism. I could not be happier with how it all turned out.

We are so happy we found Innovative! We needed an updated, brighter kitchen and Innovative delivered amazing results. One of the best parts was they were able to accomplish it all while we were not living in the state. We were initially concerned about our absence during the process, but the constant communication made it seamless.
From the beginning, Meghan was exceptional! She began by listening to exactly what we hoped to achieve and was quick to address our questions throughout the process. Her communication was always timely and thorough. If she didn’t know an answer, she was quick to seek it out or to direct me to the appropriate source. Her genuine kindness made it feel as though we’d invited a friend into our home.
Our designer, Molly, was also wonderful to work with. She presented a variety of options throughout the design process and was very patient until we found exactly what we wanted. (She even worked late one evening to facetime with me, walking through various choices.) She had hardware options, tiles, and a myriad of paint samples mailed to us so we could get a visual and tactile feel. Her selections from hardware to paint to countertops were exactly what we had envisioned when we initially discussed our hopes for an updated kitchen. I especially love, love the tilework motif above the stove. Unique and simply gorgeous!
Innovative’s crew was also outstanding. Our project manager was Diego. He, along with Isaias, kept everything running smoothly and on schedule. Again, the communication was exactly what we desired. Since we weren’t physically here, they were great about sending pictures at each juncture so we could see the progress. The painters were fantastic. They painted the cabinets, the kitchen, and the two adjoining rooms. The quartzite counters and tile backsplash were beautifully installed. Throughout the entire process, everything was kept protected and clean.
We appreciate that, with the added complexity of our not being here, Diego and his crew were meticulous about keeping our home safe and locking up each day.
I could not recommend Innovative highly enough. This is our first time doing any kind of home renovation and I would not hesitate to use them again!
