Transforming Popcorn Ceilings: A Stunning Makeover
Transforming Popcorn Ceilings: A Stunning Makeover
At Justin Painting & Drywall LLC, we take immense pride in our ability to enhance and rejuvenate homes across Durham, Raleigh, and Cary. Recently, we had the pleasure of working with a wonderful client, Aboli G., who reached out to us with a specific challenge: the removal of popcorn ceilings from her first floor and two-story foyer.
The Challenge
Aboli and her husband had previously attempted to tackle the popcorn ceiling removal on their own in a smaller room, and the process had proven to be incredibly time-consuming and labor-intensive. They reached out to us with a goal to not only remove the popcorn texture but also ensure a clean and polished result in a reasonable timeframe. The foyer presented its own unique difficulties due to its height, which added another layer of complexity to the project.
Our Approach
From the moment our team started, we prioritized a seamless process. Over the course of four days, we executed a comprehensive plan that included:
1. Popcorn Ceiling Removal: We first removed the unsightly popcorn texture carefully.
2. Patching and Sanding: Following the removal, we patched up any imperfections and sanded the ceiling to a smooth finish.
3. Painting: Lastly, we painted the ceiling with a fresh coat that brightened the entire area.
Throughout the project, we maintained a clean workspace, something that can often be a daunting task in messy renovations. As Aboli pointed out in her review, our team showed a commitment to cleanliness that ensured they had little to no disruption once we were finished.
The Result
By the end of the project, Aboli and her husband were thrilled with the transformation. What took them a month in their smaller room, we efficiently accomplished in just four days for 1,000 square feet of space. The two-story foyer, once dominated by heavy, textured ceilings, was now open and inviting, boasting a fresh and modern look.
> “The whole project took them 4 days...Their estimate was reasonable and the team of workers were professional, timely, and very clearly hard working. I would definitely hire them again for a future job.” - Aboli G.

Drywall Repair: A Stunning Transformation
Drywall Repair: A Stunning Transformation
At Justin Painting & Drywall LLC, we pride ourselves on our ability to turn challenges into beautiful solutions. Recently, we had the pleasure of working with a customer, Eric F., who reached out to us with a significant challenge: a damaged drywall ceiling caused by a leak. This was not just any ordinary repair; it was crucial to restore both functionality and aesthetics, ensuring the area looked as good as (if not better than) before.
The Before State
When Eric first contacted us, he was understandably frustrated. The leak had left a substantial hole in the ceiling, compromising not only the structural integrity of the drywall but also the overall appearance of his home. He needed a reliable drywall contractor who could assess the damage and bring the ceiling back to life. He expressed concerns about rushed jobs and wanted someone who would pay attention to the details—something we wholeheartedly promised to deliver.
Our Process
Our team meticulously began the transformation by removing as much of the damaged drywall as necessary. We cut out the wet sections to prevent further issues and started measuring and crafting the perfect replacement. This phase is crucial, as getting the dimensions right ensures a seamless fit.
To restore the ceiling, we applied four coats of mud. This not only helped to create a smooth, even surface but was also key in matching the texture of the existing drywall. Patience is key in our work, so we allowed ample drying time in between each coat to achieve a flawless finish. We then sanded down the surface, preparing it perfectly for paint.
Once the mudding process was complete, we applied two coats of high-quality paint, breathing new life into the ceiling. The end result was stunning—clean, smooth, and beautiful. Eric was thrilled to see that it looked “like nothing ever happened,” and he even mentioned that it looked better than before!
The Customer Experience
Our commitment to customer satisfaction doesn't just stop at craftsmanship; how we conduct ourselves on the job is equally important. Eric praised our professionalism, saying:
> "Justin did a fantastic job... He was polite, on-time, and made sure he didn’t miss any of the minor details. Cleaned up all the dust when he left, took care of everything so it looks like nobody was here."
This feedback truly reflects our ethos at Justin Painting & Drywall LLC. We understand that a home improvement project can disrupt daily life, so we strive to minimize that impact while delivering exceptional results.
The After Results
The finished project not only restored the integrity of Eric's ceiling but also revitalized the aesthetic appeal of his home. His delight with our workmanship has led him to confidently express plans to hire us for any future painting or drywall needs.
