My Trane XR AC/Heat is 6 yrs old for starters. The maintenance service I had prior was ghostly at best, virtually nonexistent, even though I left messages. Then seemingly from the sky, the mail delivered a booklet called ‘Best Picks Report 2022’. Stan’s AC/Heating was among the top five on page 9. After reading about each of the five, I selected and believed Stan’s was the best fit for me. I was right. A dedicated polite and professional young gentleman presented himself to inspect my neglected system; a system that hadn’t been touched since 8/2/2019. This man listened to every concern I had including my condensation line and drain line, which hadn’t been looked at since the systems install. Sure enough, the primary drain line was clogged and partially buried. The condensation line had a small leak which could have been costly. I am confident and yes, hopeful that this will be the beginning of a good venture going forward. Time will tell. For now, thank you, Stan’s. Part II: On 6/29/22, I used Stan’s plumbing and the serviceman (who shares my first name) was professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He was top grade and first rate. He informed me I would soon be needing a water heater. My 30 year old unit was still in great shape but no longer state coded. He suggested we not drain or service my unit since it wasn’t having issues. He provided an estimate on a new system when my unit decides to retire. All in all, great service and great experience. Thank you.
Part III: In early February, Central TX was bracing for a freeze. It was to rival the freeze that knocked out the whole state a couple of years back. Monday, 2/6 early morning, there was a storm in which lightening struck a nearby home and knocked out my AC/furnace, washer and dryer. No HEAT with the big freeze coming! I called Stan’s the following day as it took us a day to realize about no heating for us. Michael came out timely and gave us the grim news. Entire circuit board was fried. The part might take a week. (Freeze coming). No choice, we prepared. Wednesday James (I think) calls to inform that the part is in Dallas and they can install Thursday! The furnace is up and running just in time for Friday’s ICE STORM!! Yes, the one that took out thousands and thousands of tree branches and power lines everywhere.
Part IV: Away for the weekend, returning Sunday 6/11(first weekend of triple digit heat) to an AC-less house. First thing Monday, we call Stan’s. They are available and fix a capacitor on the outside fan unit within 90 minutes! Stan’s saved us again!!! Enough said. Right?

I called Stan’s on a Sunday morning of a holiday weekend, because my AC had gone out during the night. The temperatures were going to be approaching 100 later in the day. They were able to send someone right away, within a couple of hours, and he was able to quickly diagnose and fix the problem. My AC is working perfectly again. They were the only company out of the 11 I called that was able to get me on their schedule right away. I highly recommend them.

Trustworthy, on time or early, knowledgeable, reasonably priced. There is literally nothing to NOT like. We are currently about 1,000 miles from Austin, but we are completely comfortable in remotely turning off the alarm and opening the house, and then letting our technician in to do whatever he needs to do in order to fix the problem. We trust him, we trust Stan's, and that's pretty much the end of the story.

Air conditioner repair, fast, efficient, lucky me. Of course seemingly expensive but normal I guess in todays world. Will say again easy to deal with. Called at 8 am repaired by 9:45am. Promised a tech between 11am and 3pm. Reasonable and I got lucky. The tech knew what it was immediately done and gone in 20 minutes

From Stan’s to Strands to Scams
Either the management of Stan’s Heating and Air is incompetent, or they just don’t care, or both.
We have been in Austin long enough to remember Stan’s as a reliable, well-respected company, so when it came time to replace our two 22-year-old Carrier systems, we turned to Stan’s and bought two new Carrier units. These were installed in December 2021.
In March 2023, Stan’s came out to change filters and check for maintenance. Two weeks later, the upstairs unit stopped blowing cold, so we called, and a technician came out, looked for a leak, couldn’t find one, filled the refrigerant, and charged us $533. He told us to expect a call from Stan’s management to set up a leak check. No call ever came.
By June, the unit wasn’t blowing cold again, so the same technician came out and rechecked the system, didn’t find the leak, and filled the refrigerant. We complained and told them this visit was under warranty. The technician again told us to expect a call from Stan’s management to set up a leak check. After waiting for this call for a week, we called and set up the leak check appointment leaving strict instructions that a manager must call in advance to discuss the charges, but again no call.
When the same technician arrived, he asked whether management had called, and we said no; he told us the leak check was $1050. He spent a reasonable amount of time checking for this leak and again didn’t find it. He says it is time to start replacing parts on a 1 ½-year-old Carrier unit. The parts are under warranty, but the labor isn’t. Again, he told us to expect a call from Stan’s management. After spending almost $1600 with Stan’s, they can’t find our leak or their telephone.
The original Stan must be turning over in his grave with what has happened to his once stellar company. Now I find out that the company that bought Stan’s, the Strand brothers, another reputable AC company, sold Stan’s to an investment firm. If you are looking for an honest, reliable, reputable AC company in Austin, KEEP LOOKING!

Jackson called & arrived even before
our 1-5pm window of time. His coworker came by to verify a few things. They explained everything in detail as to my capacitor being shot after 2.5-3 years in this new house. Apparently, it is known that builders “go with a cheap version of a capacitor; even though they know it’ll go out in approximately three years.” I saw it. It was completely shot. Nothing we did wrong. Just a cheap product put in by Chesmar Homes. The new one Stan’s put in far exceeds the old one & has a warranty. I now have yearly contract for two visits to check &/or fix everything AC & Furnace related. I highly recommend Stan’s AC & Heating! I’ll also be putting a review on my neighborhood Facebook page to let people know who bought Chesmar homes in 2020 like me, that their capacitor may be going soon, too. Jackson was early in the window time, extremely kind, courteous, showed me where my AC line drains from & promptly drained it & he answered all my questions. Highly recommend Stan’s Heating & AC!
