We got a reasonable quote from Stefan in a super quick amount of time, saving $5000 from another company's quote for more work and better materials. We got the work done within weeks versus next year when most of the other companies we spoke to were scheduling. Justin and Edgar showed up and did an AMAZING job. We have a historic house and replacing the liner from 1934 was no mean task. They also installed a new liner for our hot water heater and repaired the masonry at the chimney crown. They worked so hard and stayed late hours to get the job done in a timely fashion. We can't think of enough nice things to say about the job and the people. They left our home and their work areas spotless when they left. They consistently communicated with us about the status of the job and answered all of our questions knowledgeably. I can highly recommend American Professional Chimney and will definitely be using their services again any time I need masonry work or my chimneys cleaned and inspected.

My chimney was not operational and needed some repairs. Contacted APC&M and was given an estimate on the spot for the needed repairs. There were pros and cons. Overall, I gave it an OK experience.
CONs:
The technicians arrived and gave me a cursory review of what was going to happen (e.g., "liner and masonry repairs") that day. When it came time to perform the outside masonry repairs, they were going to put an elastomeric coating on the chimney crown when, in fact, then crown was to be replaced. That's when I got nervous and I showed them my copy of the estimate/scope of work and the technician took a picture of it with his phone as he said this was different from what he received. That was concerning to me as the estimator said he goes over each job in great detail with the crew prior to their arrival. I immediately got the feeling that this review probably did not happen and then felt the need to watch over them to make sure they were following the scope of work.
The technicians did NOT cover/protect my roof the entire time they were working on my chimney (e.g., removing the crown; installing the new liner; grinding out mortar joints; and tuck-pointing). I am not sure if they did not have enough blankets or sheets but there was debris all over my roof. That was relatively annoying as that was the first line item on the estimate/work order and I figured a common practice.
Also, the technicians missed a few spots on one side of the chimney where silicone needed to be ground out of the mortar joint and replaced with mortar. I discovered this a few days after they left when I went on to the roof to look my newly repaired chimney.
Another crew was supposed to come and install a protective coating over the new crown and apply water seal to the chimney. I was given a date/time by the scheduler. That date has come and gone. I called the scheduler and inquired if they would be coming this week to apply the coating over the new crown and water sealing the chimney as I also wanted to confirm that this new crew would seal a couple of cracked bricks with clear silicone (as identified on the work order). I am not sure why the first crew did not seal the cracked bricks as it was on the work order. The scheduler was under the impression that this work (e.g., elastomeric sealant; water proofing; sealing cracked brick) had occurred and I informed him that no one from his company had come and that's when I felt like the scheduler became very short on the phone and even gave me an attitude. I chose the high road and remained pleasant because maybe he was having a bad day. We all have those every now and then.
PROs:
Β· Stefan and Dave are very knowledgeable. I was impressed with the amount they know about chimneys, mantles, hearths, fireplace inserts, etc.
Β· No slimy salesmen recommending un-necessary work.
Β· The estimation process is very easy. On the spot estimates from their estimator. No messing around waiting for an estimate.
Β· Scheduling the job was pretty easy.
Β· The technicians were nice/pleasant and wore masks.
Β· The technicians covered our belongings and did their best to minimize dust/debris. Also, the technicians did a pretty good job cleaning up after the job was done.
Β· The chimney looks better aesthetically.
OVERALL:
The chimney looks good after being power washed along with the areas that were tuck-pointed. I am happy that there is a new crown and a chimney liner. I look forward to using the fireplace this fall/winter. I was really excited to work with this company after reading such positive reviews in various forums. Had there not been a few speed bumps along the way, I would have gladly given them 5 stars.

I highly recommend this company. We had a new SS liner installed, our entire fire chamber reconstructed, cap replaced and brick work repointed in the fire box and exterior chimney. Stefan honored the original quote even though they ran into more work than expected during the removal of our old clay chimney liner (which was cracked from a recent chimney fire). It took them a few extra days to get the job done and they even brought in more people to get the work done faster. This is a great company and we will be using them again.

Stefan did an excellent job of describing the relining required for the main floor fireplace, and presenting options for the basement fireplace. He estimated the work might take five days. Edgar and Amilcar completed this work in four days, and were very efficient about removing any debris and cleaning up afterwards.

Great company. Very knowledgeable and helpful. We would definitely use them again for other related issues. Reasonably priced.

We had our chimney repaired. We needed a new crown and a few layers repaired. We have a tall three story house. I called and set up an appointment. On the day of the appointment I called to confirm and the office told me it was not in their system. I rescheduled it.
The team that arrived to provide the estimate was professional and wrote up the estimate on the spot. I scheduled the service. One team came and completed the repair on a hot day. The team was very nice and they cleaned up the work space very well. They said they would return in a week to uncover and spray waterproofing. Another team came back to do that, also very nice and professional. After the second team left I noticed that shingles on the porch were damaged from the ladder. Neither team used the buffers as I had expected.
I called to discuss and the office offered to have a team come to replace the bent and broken shingles. One team came about two weeks later to take photos and did not return. Then another team arrived a week after that. They did not have the photos from the earlier team and arrived with the wrong colored shingles. I approved them but after starting them they realized it was not a good match. They returned the next day and completed the repair. The last team apologized for the situation. I am having the chimney inspected this week and will update if there are issues with the repair done. After I made full payment I never heard from the company again to ensure that everything was completed to my satisfaction.
This company needs better communication all around and the staff must be more careful with their work areas. A homeowner should not have to micromanage the repair process.
