I found Straight Shooter on accident. My plan was to work with ASI but ASI convinced me that they were the wrong company for me.
Last year, I asked ASI to send someone out to inspect my system. A wonderful young man came, installed a new filter while he was in the attic, and told me that my system was 18 years old and would need to be replaced sooner than later. He said to contact them when I was ready as it was October and I was most concerned about the AC, not the furnace
Seeking a second opinion, I contacted Mauzy. Another wonderful young man came out and told me about my system in much greater detail about the system I had and what I might replace it with and why. Mauzy gave me a quote with significant Costco rebates included.
I called ASI back and asked them how much it would be to purchase the recommended heat pump and air handler. I was told that they couldn't tell me that and needed to send a tech out who could tell me. I informed them that someone had already been out and they had all the specs for my home. They insisted that the tech needed to know things about my home that weren't included in information that was previously gathered during the inspection. When I asked what that information was, there was no answer. I said that regardless of the home that the components are going into, the cost of those components shouldn't change and I just wanted to know what that cost was. She couldn't / wouldn't tell me. ASI had earned my business but they blew it. On to Mauzy.
Mauzy's communication was awful after they let me know that the rebates that were in my quote had expired and the cost would be significantly higher, over $17k. There were several texts and emails from two different people after I was told that they would see what could be done for me. More than a month later, I had a price that wasn't much different from the first price.
I was trying to reachout to another company when apparently Yelp blasts this out to all AC companies in the world. I got 12 texts in 2 minutes. I responded to 4 and talked to two companies; Precision and Straight Shooter.
Straight Shooter came out, gave me a quote, talked with me about financing, said it would take two days, and scheduled the install. I dragged my feet trying to decide between Straight Shooter and Precision. I'm cheap so I went with the lower quote of $13250 to heat and cool a 2,00 sq ft . It was a coin toss. Precision was timely, professional, and were good to communicate with.
My new system is awesome. It's quiet compared to the old one and the air runs less often, and for shorter periods of time. Also, something must have been sealed in the attic to keep the house warmer in the evenings and cooler during the day.
My only complaint would be that the installers could have put a blanket up against the wall when raising the unit into the attic. There is a small scratch the size of a peanut, where the unit hit the wall.
I spent way too much time researching, interviewing, calling and scheduling, etc. But I got a great unit, and great service, at a great price. Ask for Michael or Ken.
